Batman is getting a brand new rival, as previews for the Caped-Crusader's post-Joker War arc will see the introduction of a brand new character. As Gotham City tries to rebuild a new vigilante with an interesting connection to Batman will step into the spotlight and try to become Gotham's new hero: Ghost-Maker.

Ghost-Maker was teased by Batman writer James Tynion IV a couple of months ago. Tynion IV described him as a character who's "an adversary to Bruce, but he is not necessarily a villain, per se." He also mentioned that he's someone Bruce Wayne has known "since he was a young man traveling around the world training to become Batman." The tease included Ghost-Maker coming to Gotham because he's not impressed with the job Batman has been doing. Now, new previews show what Ghost-Maker is up to and how it will affect Gotham. It's not great news for Bruce.

In new solicits for Batman #102 and #103, Ghost-Maker arrives in the aftermath of the Joker War. Issue #102 teases a direct takeover attempt by Ghost-Maker, as he wants to overthrow Batman as the new hero of Gotham City. He's also teased as going "toe-to-toe" with Batman as the city continues to change in #103. The vigilante clearly plans on becoming the top hero in Batman's stomping grounds - but by what means will he try to accomplish that goal? And who is secretly hiding behind the mask?

Ghost-Maker's design looks sleek, futuristic, and cool. He looks like he came straight out of an anime or the Destiny video game series. With a giant sword, an ambitiously long cape, and some impressive looking tech - he's certainly set to make quite the debut in the pages of Batman. How will Batman deal with the new hero as he tries to rebuild Gotham?

Check out the solicits for Batman #102 and #103, which will also see Punchline being sent to prison and Harley Quinn facing off against the Clownhunter.
