The highly anticipated follow-up to 2017's Dark Nights: Metal will feature yet another version of Batman we've never seen before. Hot off the heels of DC revealing both an image of a grim brawler-style Superman and a version of Wonder Woman with a chainsword, DC showcased the series plans for Batman. The original Metals arc already gave us many nightmarish versions of Batman that our heroes had to contend with, but maybe this one will side with the totally metal versions of the DC heroes?

This Dark Knight comes with his own sweet bike that would make Lobo jealous. He even holds a scythe, which is just flat out cool! Add to that the fact that this metal version of the caped crusader is riding his bone-cycle (our name, not DC's) on top of a pile of bodies and you've got one mean alternate universe version of Batman. Two of those bodies crawling out of the pile and reaching up towards metal Batman appear to be Scarecrow and possibly Aquaman? Give this Batman a flaming guitar like the Doof Warrior in Mad Max: Fury Road and he'd fit right in with the War Boys!

Writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo have been a creative powerhouse duo for DC Comics in recent years. Recently, the team not only worked together on the original Dark Nights: Metal series but also the epic Batman: Last Knight on Earth. Fans and critics have been responded very positively and the pair have shown that they're not afraid to make some big swings with the status quo - and that's a very good thing.

As mentioned earlier, this isn't the first alternate version of Batman the "Metal" series has introduced to audiences. Most famously, readers met the terrifying The Batman Who Laughs. A character who's look and backstory struck such a chord with the audience that he was voted DC's Villain of the Year. There were also several other nightmare versions of Batman, all led by the demon god Barbatos, that the Justice League had to fight as well. This new bone-cycle riding Batman might be different though. Could this one be more in line with classic anti-heroes? It's possible that these three new versions of DC's trinity are all united against the forces of evil. Heck, they may even team up with the Justice League. All we can do is speculate at the moment. But, what we do know is we can't wait to pick up the first issue later this year.
