Batman Recruits He-Man To Save DC's World

Wanring: SPOILERS for Injustice 2 and Injustice vs. Masters Of The Universe

A new Injustice Vs. Masters of the Universe comic book mini-series sees a new Batman and the heroes making up The Insurgency traveling to the world of Eternia. Their mission - to recruit He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, to help them free Earth from the grip of the tyrant Superman.

The reality of Injustice has become one of the most popular alternate realities (or Elseworlds) in DC Comics' history. The series is set on a Earth where Superman went became obsessed with providing security at the cost of freedom, after "one bad day" in which The Joker tricked him into killing Lois Lane and triggered the destruction of Metropolis. Superman went on to became the absolute tyrant of Earth after a five year campaign against many of his former heroic allies.

So far, the story of Injustice has spanned two critically-acclaimed video games and several volumes of a New York Times Best-Sellers graphic novel series.

The game Injustice 2 offered players a choice of  two endings , depending upon their choices.  The first ending, known as  "Absolute Justice" ends with Superman being depowered by Gold Kryptonite and banished to The Phantom Zone. The second ending, "Absolute Power" ends with Superman reclaiming control of the Earth, after stealing the powers of the alien artificial intelligence Brainiac.

Injustice Vs. Masters of The Universe is set in the Absolute Power reality, and we see that Superman is using his newfound technological powers to further cement his grip on the Earth. With Wonder Woman as his most trusted lieutenant and a mind-controlled Bruce Wayne acting as his battlefield strategist, there is little the free heroes remaining can do to fight back. Since magic is one of the few things still capable of hurting Superman in his current state and they need an unknown quantity that Batman is unaware of, this leads to The Insurgency's journey to the magical world of Eternia and their seeking out He-Man to act as their champion.

Naturally, He-Man is willing to answer the call to justice and is ready to leave for Earth after making arrangements for some of the Insurgency to remain on Eternia to help protect his world while he is away. He will not be going to the Earth of Injustice alone, however, as the warrior woman Teela and wizard Orko will also be traveling to Earth.

And a good thing too, because Superman has recruited a face familiar to Masters of the Universe fans to aid him in the battle to come.
