Shazam star Ross Butler is very, very open to starring in a Batman Beyond movie. Butler is best known for playing Zach Dempsey on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, which recently wrapped up its run with its fourth and final season. Prior to 13 Reasons Why, Butler originated the role of Reggie Mantle on Riverdale. However, when 13 Reasons Why became a bigger priority, Butler's character was recast with Charles Melton. Last year, Butler had a small, but pivotal role in the DCEU film Shazam as the adult, superpowered form of Eugene (Ian Chen), Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) foster brother.

Fans have long hoped to see a live-action feature film adaptation of Batman Beyond, an animated television series that ran from 1999 and 2001. Batman Beyond focused on Bruce Wayne in his 70s, years after he gave up the mantle of Batman. When a teenage boy named Terry McGinnis stumbles upon the Batcave, he begs Bruce to take him under his wing and teach him the ways of being Batman. Bruce relents, and a new Batman is born.

Over on social media, Butler became very aware of Batman Beyond and was quick to pitch himself as Terry. While he didn't explicitly ask for the role, his message of "Can we?" makes it pretty clear he would love to star in the film. And based on the images he's included, Butler just might be a solid choice for the role. You can see Butler's tweet in the space below.

Batman Beyond certainly seems like an excellent piece of source material for a feature film, and some are likely hoping that one will be developed in the future. Talk of a Batman Beyond movie has risen in volume in recent weeks because of the news that Michael Keaton is in negotiations to play Batman once again in the DCEU's Flash. Keaton is often fans' top pick for the Bruce in Batman Beyond, and the actor is now at the perfect age to play an older Batman. So far, though, nothing has been announced. In fact, Keaton himself still needs to be officially confirmed for The Flash.

Still, if a Batman Beyond movie does get made in the next few years, Butler will probably have some tough competition from other young actors eager to become the next Batman. Butler is also likely returning for Shazam 2, which is currently slated for release in November 2022. Of course, this doesn't necessarily exclude him from consideration for Batman Beyond. Butler and fans will just have to wait and see what happens.
