Spoilers for Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #6

In brand-new DC Comics art, Batman Beyond's latest costume and epic wings get spotlighted, showing off the notable changes coming to the hero. In new preview art for Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #6, Terry McGinnis ditches in his iconic future Batman Batsuit for something different, as the miniseries will give him an ever darker look with incredible red wings that make him stand out like never before.

Batman Beyond has become a fan-favorite hero in the DC Universe following his debut in the Batman Beyond animated series, which ran for three seasons in the late '90s into the early '2000s. Terry McGinnis became the Batman of the future (training under Bruce Wayne) as he protected Neo-Gotham from all kinds of new villains and threats that emerged following the original Dark Knight hanging up the cowl. DC's Batman Beyond: Neo-Year has taken McGinnis' adventures a step further, as the comic book series follows Batman Beyond navigating being a hero in Neo-Gotham following Wayne's death. In his efforts to take down the tech-based villains Living Gotham and the Sword of Gotham, McGinnis will be getting a new Batsuit and costume with spectacular wings.

On his Twitter account, Batman Beyond: Neo-Year writer Jackson Lanzing shared new art for the upcoming sixth issue, which also features a creative team of Collin Kelly, Max Dunbar, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Aditya Bidikar. In the art for Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #6, as Lanzing puts it, "the Bat spreads his wings." Batman Beyond can be seen in his new Batsuit as his new costume features small changes on his forearms and glowing fingers, with a much wider Batman logo across his chest. The starring feature, however, is his wings, which can be seen fully extended in the image as he crashes down in what's sure to be an epic battle.

The DC Comics art also shows the wings retracted into Batman Beyond suit, as they seem to serve as a defense mechanism or additional weapon on his Batsuit and costume. McGinnis also wields red glowing Batarangs that match his new wings. Considering how the Sword of Gotham seems to have taken over the entire room of Neo-Gotham elites, Batman Beyond will need all the help he can get in taking them down.

Ultimately, Batman Beyond's new Batsuit strikes a perfect balance of offering something new for the hero, with his red logo, wings, and fingertips, while keeping the best parts of his usual costume intact. He's still very much the hero as the look isn't so drastically changed that he becomes unrecognizable. Readers can see the new epic costume in action when Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #6 arrives in comic book stores on September 6, 2022.
