Warning, this article contains spoilers for Batman Beyond #49.

Batman has never had an easy job but boy, the events of Joker War have definitely thrown the caped crusader for a loop. Bruce has been on quite the losing streak lately: He lost Alfred, his father-figure and the closest thing to a living relative. He lost his family fortune. He even lost the city that he sacrificed so much to protect. Batman's entire life was shattered during James Tynion IV's Joker War.

According to another dark and brooding vigilante, Batman's luck is about to turn around. Following the Joker War, Batman had no choice but to get back to the basics. He had to forego all the fancy tech that his wealth allowed him to possess because of government scrutiny. Batman's popularity in Gotham was also at an all-time low because of the chaos Joker caused in the city.

Terry McGinnis, the Batman of the future hints that Bruce's dog days are finally over in Batman Beyond #49 by Dan Jurgens and Paul Pelletier. Terry travels back in time with Booster Gold to stop a plot that was assumed to control Bruce Wayne's mind in the future and result in the death of Terry's younger brother Matt. Booster Gold takes Terry to the year 2020 when the event that would lead to Bruce falling under a villain's influence would take place. The two immediately notice rampant destruction upon landing in 2020.

While saving civilians from houses set ablaze, Terry rescues a little boy that turns out to be none other than his late father, Warren McGinnis. Booster Gold had informed Terry that he could not meet the Bruce of 2020 or it would change events in the future and possibly affect his path to becoming Batman. When a wall of flame separates Bruce from Terry the new Batman thinks to himself that evading Batman "in his prime" could be impossible.

While this small thought may seem largely inconsequential, it has bigger implications since Booster Gold and Terry have both traveled from the future. Terry is aware of the year they landed in, as well as Batman's history. Stating that Batman is in his prime in 2020 means that despite his losing streak as of late, he has finally entered an era where he is at his best. After the Joker War, Batman has admitted that he needed to adapt to the new Gotham. He has gone low-tech and even moved out of Wayne Manor and into the city for the first time ever. According to the Batman of the future, Bruce Wayne has finally entered his prime after many bumps in the road.
