Warning! Spoilers for Batman Beyond #47, out in stores now!

With all the known potential futures of DC Comics, sometimes even the future needs saving. In the latest Batman Beyond, Terry McGuiness and his allies are able to stop the latest apocalypse from freezing the world over but it would appear there will be little rest before the next calamity arrives. At the end of this issue, a familiar face from the 25th century arrives, the time-traveling former conglomerate showboat turned hero known as Booster Gold with a mission to save Batman!

Created by writer/artist Dan Jurgens for Booster Gold #1 (1986), Michael Carter was a disgraced athlete from the 25th century whose job at the Metropolis Space Museum taught him about the superheroes and villains from the 20th century. With the assistance of a security robot called Skeets, Michael stole relics from the museum and traveled back in time to create a superhero identity combined with the comfortable living of corporate sponsorship. Calling himself Booster Gold, his obsession with fame and wealth got on the wrong side of many heroes but eventually, his membership in the Justice League and assistance in crucial events helped win people over. Due to his roots in the 25th century, Booster would often be involved with Rip Hunter and the Time Masters, constantly traveling back and forth through time where he got to meet all kinds of other superheroes and often find himself at odds with his former goals and history.

In Batman Beyond #47 by Jurgens and Sean Chen, Batman, Damian Wayne, and their allies are struggling to stop the League of Assassins' and their new leader, Mr. Zero from ushering in a new Ice Age on Earth. While Terry and Damian along with Goliath take care of Zero and his forces, Dick Grayson and his daughter Elainna, the new Batwoman, take care of the logistics and space, literally. While on Earth, Barbara, Bruce Wayne, and Terry's brother Matt avoid freezing to death in a frozen and powerless Neo-Gotham, it's down to the wire but the Batman Beyond family are victorious. While Zeh-Ro and his remaining forces are left drifting in space, Damian and Bruce come into agreement to combine their resources together and work together to hopefully benefit mankind.

While Terry hopes this good news means the exhausted Batman Beyond Family has earned a little break, an unexpected visitor arrives in the end. Talking to a floating mechanical friend about the current weather, the unseen figure reveals he's new to this era, thanks to a Time Sphere in the corner, but is reminded that they both have a mission. Booster Gold and Skeets makes their Batman Beyond debut with a mission to ensure that Batman isn't erased from history.

It is unclear if this Batman Beyond universe is the same as the DCAU which had Booster Gold as a member of Justice League Unlimited or if it's operating as a unique individual timeline but make no mistake, Booster Gold is here. Considering how well Booster's interactions with other heroes have gone in the past, it'll be schway to see what kind of trouble he and Skeets get into when they confront the Batman of this future.
