Affleck portrayed Batman in 2016’s Batman v Superman and 2017’s Justice League, which proved to be a difficult experience for him. Though many expected Affleck’s DC days to be over after he left the production of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Affleck recently shockingly revealed that he will return as the Caped Crusader in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash, which is set for release in 2022. Unlike Affleck, Ana de Armas does not currently have a role in the DCEU, but she has been in an impressive number of action films, including Blade Runner 2049 and this year’s No Time To Die. 

While Affleck will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne in The Flash, Robert Pattinson’s Batman will still be seen as the future of the franchise alongside Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman. The Flash will instead aim to set off the DCEU’s multiverse, joining together every single DC movie ever made and hopefully offering some closure to previous depictions of certain characters. While it is unclear exactly what Affleck’s arc will be in The Flash, fans have been wondering if Muschietti will cast a new Catwoman alongside Affleck’s Batman.

The piece depicts Affleck in a blue Batman suit from the Hush storyline, with de Armas by his side in the unmistakable Catwoman costume. Take a look at the fan art below.

The official plot for The Flash is not yet released, but Muschietti has revealed that Affleck’s Batman will play a substantial and emotional role in the movie, so introducing a new Catwoman alongside him is not out of the picture. With the creation of the DCEU multiverse, it would also be interesting to see how Catwoman from Affleck’s Batman’s universe differs from other iterations of the character. As artoftimetravel mentioned in his caption, Affleck and de Armas would likely have incredible chemistry as Catwoman and Batman due to their involvement in real life and having already portrayed a couple in this year’s Deep Water. 

Nevertheless, there are many implications that come with casting real life partners as DC characters. Affleck’s past relationships with his co-stars have been heavily scrutinized by the media, which generated a lot of drama for both the actors and their film. DC would likely try to avoid such controversies, especially when Affleck has admitted to having a hard time with the studio before. Furthermore, with Zoe Kravitz set to play Catwoman in The Batman in 2021, it could be confusing to introduce another actress as the same character just one year later. Despite whether or not Ana de Armas will take on the mantle as Catwoman, fans should expect a fascinating story and a proper send off to Affleck’s Batman in The Flash.
