Warning! Spoilers for I Am Batman #1 by DC Comics below

The newest Batman just added a new weapon to his armor that would make Wolverine proud. As Jayce Fox begins his journey as the next Caped Crusader and builds his own suit, DC Comics just revealed a design element that's very similar to Logan's powers. In his new build, Batman has extendable tethered batons that unsheathe like Wolverine's claws. They even have their own 'SNIKT' like sound effects.

Wolverine's claws are one of the most iconic abilities and weapons in all comic books. Logan has used his adamantium-coated bones for some gruesome attacks and kills, showing he's never afraid to get violent when the moment calls for it. Paired with his healing factor, Wolverine's claws are one of the most effective offensive attacks. Now, the new Batman has his own riff on Wolverine's claws, as his latest Batsuit features several high-tech features built into it, including being able to unsheathe batons. Fox is taking a page from Wolverine, but in a less deadly fashion.

In I Am Batman #1 by John Ridley, Olivier Copiel, Alex Sinclair, and ALW's Troy Peteri, Jayce Fox oversees the creation of his new Batsuit, as Vol informs him of its capabilities. The newly printed suit is made up of a layer of non-Newtonian fluid, a less thick version of kevlar that can withstand an even more brutal attacks. Vol also gives him the specs on his cowl, as it features a military-grade biohazard filter that will protect Fox against any fear attacks. His utility belt is also quite different from Bruce Wayne's, as it features mostly burner phones, so the new Batman can stay off the grid. But, perhaps, the most interesting feature is extendable tethered batons from his gauntlets - which readers later see in action.

In a fight against a group of armed mobsters in Alleytown, Batman dodges gunshots before engaging in a one-on-one fight with a former soldier wielding a knife. Batman unsheathes his batons, making a "SHHHK" sound while knocking the man out with ease.

The batons are a clever piece of engineering that Batman can use to surprise his opponents. The batons aren't as strong as Wolverine's claws, nor are they as deadly. But, the new Batman's latest weapon proved to be quite effective against those trying to take him down. By unsheathing his batons in such an epic way, the new Batman took a cue from Wolverine and showed why his new suit should have bad guys across Gotham scared. I Am Batman #1 is in comic book stores now.
