Fans of the Caped Crusader are starting to get a taste of that life with Batman: Arkham VR. This virtual reality experience is among the many VR games coming to homes soon in an age where VR is the most notable direction for the future of gaming. The best part here though: playing as Batman.
In an effort to create a Batman experience like no other, Rocksteady Studios and PlayStation VR have teamed up to build a new game within the Batman: Arkham universe. Recently, over 500 fans from Comic-Con International were given the chance to be the first to experience the game and "Wear the Cowl." Now a trailer has been released, highlighting the experience and providing some new footage from Batman: Arkham VR.
While this isn't the first we've seen from Batman: Arkham VR, the actual in-game footage is somewhat limited. However, one can at least see how the game incorporates the look of the Batman: Arkham game series. Also present is how a VR experience captures what it would be like to experience that sort of gameplay in a whole new way. There are also plenty of fans geeking out over the whole thing throughout this trailer, as many would expect.
Little is known about the actual plot of the game so far, but a description has revealed how the game will have players utilize Batman's famous gadgets to unravel a plot threatening the lives of his closest allies. Batman: Arkham VR is already the winner of the first ever E3 Game Critics Award for Best VR Game. It will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4 this October, around the time of the system launch.
While the prospect of a new Batman: Arkham game is great and the VR experience is certainly intriguing, it would be nice to know more about the game and hear less from the fans inclined to love it enough to be on camera. Obviously a level of hype needs to be built around Batman: Arkham VR to convince an audience that VR is worth the investment, but selling the actual game would be more worthwhile.
Still, the trailer does do enough work to generate more interest. The little footage of the game seen presents a scenario involving how to play as Batman in a way previously unexplored, which garners plenty of excitement within itself. One just has to hope the experience does prove to be worth diving into a whole new world when it comes to VR.
