Where can Batman: The Animated Series be found online, and is on Netflix, Hulu or Prime? Batman: The Animated Series debuted in 1992, the same year Tim Burton's sequel Batman Returns arrived. The show is now considered arguably the greatest adaptation of the character, taking place in a retro-futuristic Gotham City. The show was also quite dark for its era and featured the perfectly cast Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Batman: The Animated Series was regularly praised for its writing and animation during its run, with "Heart Of Ice" being considered a standout. This episode reinvented the character of Mr. Freeze, giving him a tragic origin. The show also famously introduced the character of Harley Quinn, who evolved from a henchwoman of Mark Hamill's Joker to an iconic character in her own right. Even its first movie spinoff Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm is acclaimed, and was considered strong enough to receive a theatrical push back in 1993. Sadly, it did little business but it's still one of the best of the Dark Knight's movie outings.

Both TAS and The New Batman Adventures - the moniker for the show's slightly retooled later seasons - can be found on the DC Universe streaming service. Unfortunately for Netflix, Hulu or Prime subscribers, the show isn't free to stream on those platforms.
