Tim Burton's Batman is returning in a big way this summer with Batman '89 and artist Joe Quinones just revealed some new sketches that confirm which Batcave is canon. Fans have been excited to read the new DC Comics series, which will continue the Burtonverse in comic form. Knowing how keen people are for the series, artist Joe Quinones has been regularly teasing fans with glimpses of the comic.

The new digital-first comic book series comes on the heels of Quinones' scrapped pitch for a Batman '89 series a few years ago. This time, however, things are moving forward as he is joined on the series by writer Sam Hamm with the book set to release July 27 on digital platforms. DC has teased that the series will continue where Batman and Batman Returns left off. Continuing threads set up by the films, whilst introducing unused and new elements that are unique to the comic book.

Quinones' tweets have been mainly focused on the design of the Batsuit, Bruce's looks, and Catwoman. A recent tweet showcases Michael Keaton's Batman working out upside down, doing Bat-like crunches, an image evocative of the scene in Batman where Bruce sleeps hanging upside down. But one tweet, in particular, reveals something that people have been wondering about since Batman '89's announcement. That is, of course, which Batcave will be canon in the series?

In response to a fan, Quinones revealed that both Batcaves from Batman and Batman Returns are canon. Michael Keaton's Batcave underwent some changes between the first and second films, notably Batman's workstations were spread out over many different layers of the Batcave. Unlike the first, where his stations were mainly contained to one area. Even though DC has come forward in saying that Batman '89 will continue the Burtonverse, it's obvious that some liberties will be taken, so it's nice to get some answers about what will stay canon.

Quinones' drawings of the Batcave highlight the styles of both movies' Batcaves. Also, it seems the Batmobile of the Keaton films is staying the same, as seen in the artist's tweets. It's seen parked on one the Batcave's many platforms, whilst one of his workstations is situated on another. This isn't the only new comic series that will follow the events of a past film. Along with Batman '89, it was announced that a series based on Christopher Reeve's Superman is in the works. Batman '89 will be available on participating digital platforms on July 27.
