Artist Joe Quinones has released a new look at Batman '89's Robin in a very familiar pose. Over the years, there have been many versions of the Boy Wonder. The original Robin is, of course, Dick Grayson. But he hasn't been the main Robin in a long time, due to his solo endeavors as Nightwing. Naturally, Batman has taken on many other proteges that have rightfully earned their place to be called Robin. One of those Robins is Tim Drake, and the upcoming issue of Batman '89 looks to be paying homage to that version of the Boy Wonder in its cover art.

Batman '89's Robin is based on actor Marlon Wayans, who was originally supposed to appear as Robin in Tim Burton's films. However, Robin was cut due to a multitude of reasons, including an over-stacked lineup of characters. He isn't the only unused concept to show up in the DC Comics series, for instance, Billy Dee Williams' Two-Face is playing a huge role in shaping the new Burtonverse continuation. Since his debut in issue #1 of Batman '89, fans have taken a liking to the Wayans version of Robin that writer Sam Hamm and Quinones have come up with.

Batman '89 artist Joe Quinones has taken to Twitter to reveal a new look at Robin in Batman '89 #4, which is slated to release on December 7. The new sneak peek showcases Robin holding a pose that is taken directly from Robin #1, the first part in a five-issue limited series that was published in 1991. Brian Bolland's cover for Batman '89 #4, seen below, features Robin obscuring his face with his arm and cape in a pose that is instantly recognizable to fans of the 1991 limited series.

It seems that Robin will be facing off against Two-Face for the very first time in this issue, as teased in the solicitation from DC, and Harvey Dent will make his full transition to the Two-Face persona. Gotham City has big things coming for it, so hopefully, Batman and Robin can team up in time to put a stop to Two-Face's plans.

This isn't the first time that Batman '89 has referenced other iconic comic works. Artist Mico Suayan drew a Batman '89 #1 variant that pays homage to Jim Lee's very-first Batman cover. A big part of Batman '89 is the idea of legacy, which is engrained into the very fabric of the new series. It is a continuation itself, as are most comic books, so referencing other past works makes complete sense. Batman '89 #4featuring Robin's iconic pose, is set for release in comic book stores and on digital platforms on December 7.
