Batgirl stunt coordinator Scott Rogers reveals new details about a big action sequence in the canceled DC movie. In August 2022, WB made headlines when they announced the shocking news that Batgirl, which was in post-production after filming had been completed, was no longer being released. The cast and crew learned of the film's cancellation when the news broke, and the film's cancellation was reaffirmed by Peter Safran, the new co-head of DC Studios, in January.

During a Screen Rant interview about John Wick: Chapter 4, Rogers discusses his work as a stunt coordinator on Batgirl. He explains that he was drawn to Batgirl because of how it was similar to the John Wick movies. Rogers also shares new details about a huge action sequence involving flamethrowers, a firetruck, and motorcycles. Check out what Rogers said below:

Scott Rogers: Yeah, the thing that drew me to that movie in the first place was that there's no superheroes. It's a superhero movie with nobody with superpowers, so it was very grounded. It fit the John Wick world, which is the world that I really like, which is real grounded, real live, not CG stunts.

The bad guy, Brendan Fraser's character, was Firefly. We had these amazing flamethrowers, and we did this really great fight with flamethrowers. And then we had this huge sequence on a firetruck with motorcycles, and 40 foot flamethrowers, and girls doing wheelie with the flames. It was just like doing John Wick. "Okay, we're going to do what? 40 foot flamethrowers? Yes. Okay, how are we going to do that?" It was great.

It's unfortunate, but the beauty is I've learned a bunch and now I can go steal all of those stunts and go put them in another movie.

Could We See Brendan Fraser As Firefly In Another DC Universe Movie?

Brendan Fraser Firefly

The cancellation of Batgirl was a heavy blow for the cast and crew with both Leslie Grace and Brendan Fraser expressing disappointment. Although plot details have not been fully revealed Batgirl would have starred Grace as the titular hero with Fraser playing the fire-obsessed villain Firefly while both Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons were reprising their roles as Batman and James Gordon respectively. Although the movie won't be released, Safran did praise the talented actors and crew.

Fraser is no stranger to DC, having played Cliff Steele (aka Robot Man) in Doom Patrol. After his Oscar win, DC Studios may want to bring him back into the fold, and Fraser is open to returning to DC depending on the role. James Gunn is expanding the Bat Family in the new DC Universe with Batman: Brave and the Bold which will introduce his son Damian Wayne as Robin. This could be an opportunity to bring characters from the scrapped Batgirl movie, like Grace's Barabra Gordon and Fraser's Ted Carson aka Firefly, into the new DC Universe.

Batgirl being canceled meant a number of exciting possibilities were scrapped. The movie would have been the first live-action cinematic appearance of the titular hero which would build out the world of Batman while moving beyond the Caped Crusader's story. However, with the new DC Universe, Todd Phillips, and Matt Reeves all building out their own Gothams, there could be a chance of Grace or Fraser finding their way back to these iconic roles.
