New set photos from Batgirl have revealed a full look at Brendan Fraser's Firefly costume from the upcoming HBO Max film. The DCEU is fleshing out its massive superhero universe as new heroes and villains are on their way. One of them is Barbara Gordon, a.k.a. Batgirl, who will be portrayed by Leslie Grace, in her own solo adventure. Grace's iteration will be the first time in over 20 years since Batgirl has been depicted cinematically, following Alicia Silverstone's version in Batman & Robin.

Directed by Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Batgirl follows the titular heroine becoming one of Gotham City's fierce protectors. J.K. Simmons is reprising the role as her father Commissioner James Gordon. While Batgirl will feature Batman, it won't be Ben Affleck donning the cape and cowl. Instead, Batman star Michael Keaton, who is making his DCEU debut later this year in The Flash, is joining the cast as his version of the Dark Knight. Despite plot details being kept heavily under wraps, Fraser will serve as the antagonist, playing the Batman baddie Firefly.

As production is still underway for a few more months, new set photos have emerged, giving fans a closer look at Fraser's Firefly costume. Courtesy of Batgirl Film News, photographers were able to snap a couple of shots of the Firefly outfit, including his mask and fire equipment. While it appears that a stunt double is in the suit, this is the first time the public has been able to get a glimpse of the super-villain in costume. Check out the images below:

Even though Fraser has been spotted on the Batgirl set previously, it was never in costume as he's only been seen in civilian clothes. Whether or not this is the only Firefly suit that the villain dons throughout the movie remains to be seen as he may evolve his gear later on. It's also unclear if the DCEU iteration of Firefly will have his winged jet pack like in the comics. If he does, it will likely be created via VFX work in post-production. Firefly has had multiple looks throughout his time in the comics, and the Batgirl design is definitely a modernized take on it.

With Batgirl being the first DC movie that Firefly appears in, it will be intriguing to see what Fraser does with this particular Batman foe. While most DC fans are familiar with Fraser as Robotman on Doom Patrol, seeing him as a villain this time around will be fascinating. As principal photography gets closer to wrapping, Warner Bros. will have some footage to show later in the year for Batgirl, which is reportedly eying a December release on HBO Max. If Batgirl is indeed set to arrive in December, fans will hopefully start to learn more about the HBO Max project by summertime.
