The fans may debate who is really the greater hero, Barbara Gordon or her alter-ego Batgirl, but the Vultures are coming for BOTH in the world of DC Comics. And Babs won't escape from either unscathed.

When fans left Batgirl in issue #35 of her comic series, she was being publicly terminated as part of a massive "Den" for Gotham's wealthiest, and most depraved of high society. While back in the corporate world of her clean energy start-up, she was being forced out of her own company without even realizing it. Now our exclusive preview of Batgirl #36 settles the mystery of which opponent will actually plant a knife in her back, but in both cases, Barbara is struggling more than her fans are used to seeing.

Not too much is actually known about DC's version of the Vulture, sporting clothing and jewelry befitting one of a new trio of underworld entrepreneurs (taking the idea of Penguin's Iceberg Lounge and getting a bit more... literal with the animal costuming). In Batgirl #35 Barbara dealt with the trio's death trap, turned the Hulk-ed out Shark into a punching bag, and faced off against the Fox. But Vulture is going to instantly prove that looks can be deceiving in this preview, drawing blood, dodging strikes, and making Batgirl accept that she may not save everyone in Gotham tonight.

Fans may have less than heartbreaking levels of sympathy for the masks millionaires scrambling to escape from 'The Den,' after gathering there to see the club unveiled with the public display of a drowning member of the Batman family. In hindsight, it's lucky for them that the family member turned out to be Barbara Gordon--easily the vigilante most likely to put herself in harm's way to make sure they escape unharmed, despite their moral failings. But from the sounds of it, Batgirl and Vulture will be continuing their showdown in the club and beyond, which means the villain's early moved could spell trouble.

Hopefully Batgirl can come out on top, because it's only a matter of time until she realizes that her secret moves to give Poison Ivy a second chance with corporate funds has cost her everything. Until then, read on for the full solicitation information for Batgirl #36 below:
