The entire DC Comics history of Bart Allen AKA Impulse was once depicted through the Speed Force in an epic panel. The young speedster reminisces about his past as a part of the Flash Family as he shows the extent of his powers.

The Flash Family spans throughout the DC Universe, beginning with Jay Garrick and into the distant future with Barry Allen’s grandson, Bart Allen from the 30th Century. Famously known as Impulse, the future Flash has rivaled his predecessors’ speed. Benefitting from previous generations who passed on the Speed Force to him, Bart had a leg up on other speedsters. In The Flash: Fastest Man Alive #2, it was practically confirmed the Bart Allen is even faster than Barry. He continues to show off what he can do in Young Justice #16 (2020), written by Brian Michael Bendis and David Walker with art by Scott Godlewski colors by Gabe Eltaeb.

While Impulse runs in the Speed Force, he recollects his past adventures. The epic panel depicts his youth predating his superhero years, the imposing Superboy-Prime, villains such as the Dominators, his teammates in the Teen Titans, and the original Flash Family composed of Barry Allen, Jesse Quick, Max Mercury, and Jay Garrick. In the process, Bart’s costume changes, representing various eras in his comic book history. The previous familiar costumes include his original ‘90s look as Impulse and two variations of the yellow-suited Kid Flash design.

As he races through the timeline, the future Flash admits he can’t remember his age. After becoming overly familiar with time travel, Bart has forgotten how many years have gone by since he first went back and met his grandfather. His own perception of time has become warped, not allowing him to keep track of his actual history. While it’s a tragic detail, it also emphasizes his power level, as time has become inconsequential throughout his experience as a speedster.

Bart considers his Young Justice colleagues, recognizing that he can’t relate to them in this way. His powers have infringed on his wellbeing, as he anxiously realizes he’s on his own. Bart’s lack of memory is the reason for his race through the timeline, as he attempts to remind himself of where he has been. The Young Justice member concludes the monologue by coming to a sad realization, saying, "...I've been running around trying to be a superhero... trying to pretend I got it all together.” Taking his past adventures into account, he believes that he has only tried to be a superhero like those around him. Eventually, by remembering where he has been, Bart Allen is motivated to press on, and continue seeking to become a better speedster.
