Bill Hader and Henry Winkler are back together filming season 3 of BarryThe HBO crime comedy revolves around Hader as the title character, a depressed former-Marine-turned-hitman who comes across an acting class and tries to build a new career while leaving his old criminal life behind, with Winkler portraying his acting coach, Gene Cousineau. The series also stars Stephen Root, Anthony Carrigan, and Sarah Goldberg. The show has received critical acclaim for its first two seasons and has been renewed by HBO for season 3 before the second finished airing.

Since the second season's conclusion back in 2019, it has been unclear when production on season 3 would begin due to the delay by the pandemic. Still, Hader has revealed previously that he and the writers have spent time planning for the series during the quarantine. Before the lockdown occurred, the third season was completely written, and the team was planning on doing a table read, ready to start production shortly.

HBO has now taken to their official Twitter account to post a photo of Hader and Winkler together on set, confirming that season 3 of Barry is finally underway. Hader and Winkler have both won Emmy Awards for their performances in the show's first season, with Hader grabbing an additional one for the second. The duo has been at the forefront of the main storylines for the show, with Cousineau unaware of Barry's other life as a hitman. The picture of Hader and Winkler smiling at the camera, with a teasing caption, can be viewed below:

Both Hader and Winkler have had an extensive career in television comedy, with Hader being on Saturday Night Live and Winkler known for numerous shows such as Arrested Development, Children's Hospital, and his career-defining role as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli in the sitcom Happy Days. Their chemistry is the clear source of humor for a dark tragicomedy like Barry. When the second season ended, Barry and Cousineau's lives have started to intertwine, with Cousineau being the victim of one of Barry's criminal associates, so it will be interesting to see where things go from there.

While filming for the upcoming season has been affirmed, Hader and the writers have already begun developing season 4 of Barry. Given the show's critical praise and awards success, along with the immense support from the network, it seems likely that the series will be looking at renewal in the coming future. While season 3 of Barry does not yet have a release date, production updates will continue to trickle out.
