New set photos from the upcoming Barbie live-action movie tease Margot Robbie's bellbottom costume. Little Women director Greta Gerwig is helming the upcoming movie based on Mattel's eponymous fashion doll line. In the film, Robbie plays Barbie, while Ryan Gosling stars as Ken, Barbie's male counterpart. Earlier, Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway were approached for the lead role, and Barbie was being produced for Sony. However, after multiple director and writer changes, WB took over and revamped the story completely, finally putting Barbie on the right track.

Besides Robbie and Gosling, Barbie has assembled a star-studded roster of actors for its ensemble. America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, and Will Ferrell are just a small handful of the impressive cast members set to star in the movie. Reportedly, Rae, Hari Nef, Liu, and Ncuti Gatwa are playing different versions of Barbie and Ken, respectively. Barbie has been filming in Leavesden, England under strict secrecy since the spring, although now fans have managed to get hold of some set photos.

Previously, WB had released a proper look at Robbie's Barbie, as well as at Gosling's Ken. The picture featuring Robbie showed her as the live-action version of the iconic doll as she rode a convertible against a flashy pink set. Gosling's Ken from Barbie is a denim dream, with his bleach blonde hair, cut-off jacket, and hunky physique sending the internet into a frenzy. The reactions to the live-action Barbie and Ken have been overwhelmingly positive, although some have claimed that Gosling is too old to be playing his character. Still, Barbie continues to make waves across social media, with the excellent casting boosting the hype around the film.

As the new set photos show, Gerwig's live-action Barbie movie seems to be going full camp. While the first official image gave a '60s American beach girl vibe, the new set photos have a '70s superstar rodeo feel to them. With much of the plot details still under wraps, it's hard to predict what tone Barbie is aiming for. However, it is becoming increasingly possible that Barbie won't take place in the modern-day. The movie is already being said to subvert viewers' expectations, and these new flamboyant costumes for the leads do second that idea. Of course, there is still a lot to learn about Barbie, but hopefully, the story and setting will become clearer in the coming days.
