Searchlight Pictures drops a brand-new trailer for the Martin McDonagh drama film The Banshees of Inisherin, featuring In Bruges stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The film is set against the backdrop of the Irish Civil War in 1923 and takes place on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland. The story of The Banshees of Inisherin revolves around a conflict between two friends, Pádraic (Farrell) and Colm (Gleeson). When one of them ends their friendship, distressing consequences are in store for both. Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul) and Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) also appear in supporting roles.
In a new official trailer released by Searchlight Pictures for The Banshees of Inisherin, the spotlight is put on the leading stars Farrell and Gleeson, as they find themselves in an unexpected quarrel. The trailer begins with Gleeson's Colm turning his back on his friendship with Farrell's Pádraic for vague reasons. Pádraic attempts to repair their bond through some conversations between the two that are occasionally hysterical. The Banshees of Inisherin sees director McDonagh's return to his native Ireland for his first feature film since his Oscar-winning 2017 drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The film also marks the director's reunion with Farrell and Gleeson after their successful collaboration on the 2008 film In Bruges, which has garnered a cult following since its release. McDonagh's films are known for merging the drama and dark comedy genres, with In Bruges and 2012's Seven Psychopaths showcasing his niche. The above-shown trailer suggests that moviegoers will be in for a hilarious and thoroughly entertaining treat when The Banshees of Inisherin makes its theatrical debut on October 21.
