The Harley Quinn animated series reinvented a number of Batman's greatest foes, often with a more comedic twist to fit the tone of the show. But one villain and supporting character that particularly stood out throughout the entire series is Bane, the notorious supervillain who broke the Bat.

Bane is normally depicted as a cold, calculating, and ruthless villain with limitless strength, but in Harley Quinn, Bane (voiced brilliantly by James Adomian) is portrayed as a funny, friendly, and unusually wholesome individual who is picked on by other supervillains. This, combined with a parody of Tom Hardy's portrayal, has made Bane an unexpected fan favorite on the show with some extremely hilarious moments.

When Bane Gets A Trivia Question Wrong

"I'm Gonna Blow Up Gotham Stadium."

Bane threatens to blow up Gotham Stadium in the Harley Quinn series

The most famous portrayal of Bane is Tom Hardy's in The Dark Knight Risesin which he blew up Gotham Stadium. Harley Quinn's Bane hilariously spoofs Hardy's performance not just with his voice but with a petty reason why Bane chose to blow up Gotham Stadium.

It is revealed that Bane blew up Gotham Stadium because he got a question about it wrong at a sports bar's trivia night. Bane sulkily declaring he's "gonna blow up Gotham Stadium" with hot wing sauce around his masked face is a very small scene but definitely one of the show's highlights.

When Bane Swears Vengeance On An Office Chair

"Blow Up On The Ground, You Stupid Office Chair!"

In the show, Bane has a habit of swearing vengeance on the smallest things, from a dropped chicken satay to the aforementioned trivia night. But one of the greatest moments of angry avenging is a tantrum over an office chair.

In one of the funniest moments in Harley Quinn, Bane scolds Joshua Cobblepot for using a corporate card to put a bounty on Harley. The whole exchange is both funny and wholesome, with Bane kindly telling Joshua "the road to maturity is a long one." Seconds later, Bane trips on an office chair and in a fit of rage, throws it out of the window screaming "Blow up on the ground, you stupid office chair!"

When Bane Explains Why He Beat Up Kite Man

"But He Was Attacking Me!"

Bane looms over Kite Man in the Harley Quinn series

In a semi-climatic showdown towards the end of "A High Bar", Harley, Poison Ivy, and a reluctant Kite Man face off against Two-Face, Scarecrow, and Bane. Harley and Ivy take on Two-Face and Scarecrow, leaving poor Kite Man to face off Bane in a very one-sided showdown.

The fight comes to a halt for everyone to see Bane mercilessly yet hilarious beat Kite Man to a pulp. When Joker yells at Bane to "quit d---ing around with Kite Man" and attack Harley and Ivy, Bane feebly protests "But he was attacking me!" whilst effortlessly slamming Kite Man's head on the ground. It's an extremely funny end to what could be considered a really cool fight.

When Bane Is The Warden Of The Pit

"Arkham Is For The Criminally Insane. The Pit Is For The Criminally Capable."

Bane shows Harley and Poison Ivy the Pit in the Harley Quinn series

In season 2, Bane is put in charge of The Pit, a rehabilitation correction facility for Gotham's criminals that is in a giant pit. This is where Harley and Ivy end up after they are found guilty of killing the Penguin in a kangaroo court held by Two-Face with Bane acting as the judge.

Surprisingly, Bane turns out to be an excellent and caring warden. Aside from Harley and Ivy, all of the inmates seem content here and there have been no escapes or fights. This is not only one of Bane's best quotes but also one of the best quotes of Harley Quinn's second season, as it highlights both Bane's talents as a warden and just how inept Arkham Asylum is.

When Bane Gets Revenge On Todd The Smoothie Guy

"The Streets Will Run With Razzy-Zazzy!"

DC's Harley Quinn Show Bane With Umbrella Drink

When Harley joins the Legion, her crew are mistaken for goons and their first assignment is with Bane.  The assignment is to blow up a smoothie bar as Bane's personal vendetta against one of the workers, Todd, who keeps calling him "Bang." (It is later revealed that Joker had been paying Todd to do this on purpose.)

When preparing the "goons", Bane tells them "Don't eat so much that you get lethargic but eat enough that you don't get fainty because I do not bring snacks" before proudly declaring "The streets will run with razzy-zazzy!". The latter part of the quote is both a celebration and parody of Bane's character.

When Bane Loves Pixar

"I Wish They Would Make Another Up Movie."

Scarecrow, Joker and Bane in the Harley Quinn series

Bane is definitely one of Harley Quinn's most wholesome characters, and one moment that highlights this is in a Legion of Doom meeting. When Lex Luthor tells Harley that they modeled the Legion's brainstorming sessions after Pixar, Bane wistfully says "I wish they would make another Up movie."

This moment becomes even better when Scarecrow suggests that the kid from the first movie (Russell) could be the old man in the sequel. Not only is the fact that two of Batman's most fearsome foes discussing a wholesome movie awesome and adorable, but the idea for a sequel is actually a really good one.

When Bane Finally Snaps

"I Knew It Was Too Much Of A Thinker!"

Bane defeats Batman in Harley Quinn series

Bane might be one of the more wholesome villains in the series but viewers are treated to a colder and more classic Bane in the episode "Batman's Back, Man." As the last two surviving members of the Injustice League, Two-Face takes full control of Gotham whilst lying to Bane that it is joint leadership.

Later, Batman and Bane get into a fight, with Batman stating that he needs to see Two-Face as "he's clearly running this operation". Despite Bane's protests of being "equally in charge", Batman disagrees, pointing out the evident flaws in the "Two Faces" sign. It is here that Bane loses his temper and screams "I knew it was too much of a thinker!" before living up to the name of "the man who broke the Bat." It's the Bane fans are familiar with whilst staying true to the show.

When Bane Calls Out The Joker

"This Is A Monumental Night For Young Joshua, And You Disrespected It."

Bane calls out Joker in the Harley Quinn series

Despite his strength and size, Bane is frequently picked on by his peers but none so much as the Joker. In fact, the Joker is a bully to all of his peers and it's not until Harley speaks up at Joshua Cobblepot's bar mitzvah that the others, including Bane, begin to stand up to him.

Bane is the first to speak out after Harley, stating how he did not like how Joker called him a monster or how he stole his dinner, saying that Joker didn't even want to come to this "stupid thing" in the first place. His above response is not only satisfying on calling out a bully like Joker but shows a wholesome side to the supervillain as he (and everyone present) recognizes what an important night this is for the Penguin's nephew, whom with he forms an unlikely friendship in the show.

When Bane Messes Up His Card Trick

"F---."

Sometimes, the best reaction quotes are the most simple, and there is a great example from Bane in "A Seat At The Table." During Harley's welcoming ceremony into the Legion of Doom, Bane is, for some reason, providing entertainment with magic card tricks.

Whilst Harley is discussing things with her crew, Bane asks her to pick a card. After Harley finishes speaking, Bane asks if her card is "the three of hearts." Harley says it isn't and Bane responds with a simple disgruntled F-bomb. It's simple yet effective moments such as this that make the show as a whole so funny.

When Bane Expresses His Thoughts About Harl-Ivy

"I Already Had A Feeling. The Tension Was Palpable."

Bane at the bottom of the Pit in the Harley Quinn series

It is after Harley and Poison Ivy escape the Pit that they share their first kiss. In escaping the Pit, it was destroyed, leaving the fate of Bane and other supervillains uncertain, presumably dead.

However, when Dr. Psycho spitefully projects Ivy's memories of her night with Harley all over Gotham, Bane, still in the Pit, comments "I already had a feeling, The tension was palpable." Bane not only says what the audience is thinking but it's a moment of relieved joy for fans to see that Bane is still alive and well (especially considering the fates of some A-list villains). It will be brilliant to see more of Bane in season 3.
