15 Uncle Drew (2018)

Tiffany Haddish in Uncle Drew.
  • Uncle Drew is available to stream on Tubi.

A movie inspired by a series of Pepsi Max commercials that began airing in 2012, Uncle Drew stars NBA star Kyrie Irving as an elderly streetball legend who makes an admirable run at winning a basketball tournament. Haddish joins a cast full of NBA stars from the past and present, as well as a slew of well-known comedians. In the movie, she plays Jess, the flashy girlfriend of Mookie (Nick Kroll) and former lover of Dax (Lil Rel Howery). Tiffany Haddish movies do best when she is front-and-center, but Uncle Drew opts to make basketball the focal point, which isn’t a terrible choice considering the real NBA talent involved.

14 Like A Boss (2019)

Salma Hayek, Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne in Like A Boss
  • Like a Boss is available to rent or buy on Apple TV and Prime Video.

Rose Byrne and Tiffany Haddish star in Like a Boss, a corporate comedy about Mia (Haddish) and Mel (Byrne), two friends with very different personalities who co-own a cosmetic company. When cosmetics magnate Claire Luna (Salma Hayek) attempts to take over their company, Mia and Mel have to work together to take back their business. The movie's plot is threadbare, but that can be excused thanks to Haddish's onscreen charisma, and with Byrne and Hayek to play off, there is plenty of joy to be found in the film. Haddish and Byrne’s relationship is authentic, and they feel like real friends.

13 Nobody’s Fool (2018)

Tiffany Haddish as Tanya on the phone in Nobody's Fool.
  • Nobody's Fool is available to stream on Paramount+.

While Tiffany Haddish movies are often rated R, Tyler Perry’s rarely exceed PG-13. But in Nobody’s Fool, he acquiesces to Haddish’s raunchy comedy style. In the film, Tanya (Haddish) is just released on parole and returns home to find her sister Danica (Tika Sumpter) in a year-long relationship with someone she’s only spoken to online. Tanya attempts to expose the man as a catfisher leading to funny misunderstandings and romantic entanglements. Haddish is funny as ever and her wild antics energize the story. The dramatic moments never have as much punch, but every scene with Tanya is exciting and laugh-out-loud funny.

12 The Secret Life Of Pets 2 (2019)

Daisy meets Snowball in The Secret Life of Pets 2
  • The Secret Life of Pets 2 is available to rent or buy on Apple TV and Prime Video.

Tiffany Haddish joined Kevin Hart to play animal companions, Daisy and Snowball, in The Secret Life of Pets 2. The main plot revolves around Max (Patton Oswalt) and his owner Katie (Ellie Kemper) who is expecting a baby, but the B-story finds Snowball and Daisy on a mission to save a white tiger cub named Hu. Notably, in 2019, Haddish appeared in three sequels to popular animated films: The Angry Birds Movie 2, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, and this one. This may not be the best of the trio but Haddish still delivers a memorable voice-acting performance in what is essentially a mini-movie within the film.

11 The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019)

Debbie in The Angry Birds Movie 2.
  • The Angry Birds Movie 2 is available to stream on FuboTV.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 follows the characters of the first film as they team up to defeat Zeta (Leslie Jones), the leader of Eagle Island. Tiffany Haddish voices Debbie, the coconut bikini-wearing daughter of Zeta. The Angry Birds Movie 2 is one of the rare sequels that is better than the original. The film ups the jokes, plot, and heart with a story about abandonment, and the caper-like aspects make for a much more exciting watch than the first. Jones and Haddish share many scenes and by the end, it’s clear that the duo should make a live-action comedy together.

10 The Kitchen (2019)

Elisabeth Moss Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish in The Kitchen.
  • The Kitchen is available to rent on Apple TV and Prime Video.

Most Tiffany Haddish movies tend to be comedies and the same can be said for Melissa McCarthy, so it’s unusual that their crime film The Kitchen is played as a straight drama. Kathy Brennan (McCarthy), Ruby O’Carroll (Haddish), and Claire Walsh (Elisabeth Moss) are the wives of Irish American mobsters. When their husbands are put in jail, they take over their criminal enterprises. Each of the three main characters has distinct and believable reasons for their pursuit of greater criminal gain and watching them grow apart is upsetting. Haddish manages to toe the line of effective dramatic acting even with some cheesy crime film dialogue.

9 Keanu (2016)

Keanu (2016) movie - Tiffany Haddish and Jason Mitchell
'Hi-C' (Tiffany Haddish) and 'Bud' (Jason Mitchell) in Keanu
  • Keanu is available to rent on Apple TV and Prime Video.

Tiffany Haddish takes third billing behind Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele in Keanu, the parody buddy-comedy about two bumbling cousins out to rescue their kidnapped kitten. Their search leads them to Hi-C (Haddish), an undercover cop posing as a gangster. Haddish gets to first play a deadpan criminal then an undercover police officer who has palpable chemistry with Rell (Peele). As would be expected from the sketch comedy duo, Keanu often feels like a series of stitched-together sketches, but that doesn’t mean those scenes aren’t funny. Haddish gets to deliver one of the best lines of the film, "He has a rare disease, he’s gonna be a kitten forever."

8 Bad Trip (2020)

Trina dangles Chris off roof in Bad Trip
  • Bad Trip is available to stream on Netflix.

Akin to a Jackass film, Bad Trip is a hidden-camera comedy fused with scripted fiction to create one outrageous cinematic experience. Eric Andre stars as Chris, a Florida car washer who is invited to New York to attend a glitzy art gallery. To make the trip, Chris convinces his best friend Bud (Lil Rel Howery) to steal his wife Trina's (Haddish) impounded car, resulting in her angry pursuit of the pair. The plot is just an excuse for the hidden camera pranks and the behind-the-scene facts of Bad Trip are as wild as what’s shown on-screen. Tiffany Haddish shows she can hang with even the most avant-garde comedians.

7 Haunted Mansion (2023)

Haunted Mansion characters looking at a crystal ball
  • Haunted Mansion is currently in theaters.

Haunted Mansion is the second adaptation of the Walt Disney theme park attraction "The Haunted Mansion" after Eddie Murphy’s 2003 film. A widower, Gabbie (Rosario Dawson), enlists the help of a team of paranormal investigators played by LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, and Danny DeVito to exorcise her house. Like many Tiffany Haddish movies, the ensemble cast of Haunted Mansion is filled with big-name stars who help to elevate the film, even when the jokes and laughs are lacking. As psychic Harriet, Haddish is suitably zany and over-the-top but works well within the confines of the group, giving each of the investigators a chance to shine.

6 Here Today (2021)

Tiffany Haddish and Billy Crystal in Here Today
  • Here Today is available to buy on Apple TV and Prime Video.

Tiffany Haddish movies often set her up as part of a comic ensemble but in Here Today, she co-leads the film with just one other actor, Billy Crystal. In Here Today, an aging comedian Charlie (Crystal) and a musician Emma (Haddish) develop an unlikely friendship together that is tested when Charlie reveals his early-onset dementia. Haddish and Crystal have fantastic chemistry as platonic friends who help each other through difficult moments in each other’s lives. It’s heartwarming and sad but never schmaltzy thanks to the wry sense of humor from both leads. As a movie about comedy show business, Haddish and Crystal are perfectly situated for the story.

5 The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)

Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi in The LEGO Movie 2 The Second Part
  • The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is available to stream on TNT and TBS.

Tiffany Haddish joins the cast of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which picks up right where the first left off. The Duplo aliens led by Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi (Haddish) are at war with Emmet (Chris Pratt) and the rest of the Lego gang. While the movie did not reach the same heights as its celebrated predecessor, it’s still a fantastical and hilarious journey into the Lego world. Haddish has the difficult job of replacing Lord Business (Will Ferrell) from the first film as the villain but is a worthy successor as the shape-shifting and sassy alien queen.

4 The Card Counter (2021)

Tiffany Haddish and Oscar Isaac about to kiss in The Card Counter.
  • The Card Counter is available to stream on Max.

One of the darker and more intense Tiffany Haddish movies, The Card Counter follows William Tell (Oscar Isaac), a former soldier and recently released prisoner who goes from casino to casino counting cards for meager amounts of money. He eventually meets La Linda (Haddish) who offers to help him take advantage of his skills professionally, but he refuses. It’s a dark and mysterious psychological drama with two excellent lead performances from Isaac and Haddish. Isaac is magnetic but Haddish gives an incredible and subtle turn as La Linda. It’s a role far from her usual characters, and she nails the quiet sadness and confusion of the part perfectly.

3 On The Count Of Three (2021)

Natasha in On the Count of Three.
  • On the Count of Three is available to stream on Hulu.

Directed by Jerrod Carmichael, On the Count of Three centers on Val (Carmichael) and Kevin (Christopher Abbott), two best friends who agree to fatally shoot each other by the end of the movie’s day. Tiffany Haddish portrays Natasha, Val's ex-girlfriend who is one of the few things in his life he has any interest in living for. Very funny and very raw, It’s an ambitious and challenging blend of tones but Carmichael nails it. Haddish plays her part well as both a sympathetic force trying to help and a character that audiences can understand may be too overbearing at times for the sensitive Val.

2 The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent (2022)

Vivian taking a picture with Nic Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
  • The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is available to stream on Starz.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent stars a fictionalized version of Nicolas Cage, played by the actor himself, who visits a wealthy superfan Javi Gutierrez (Pedro Pascal) for a paid appearance. Nic eventually warms to Javi and his strange quirks but CIA agent Vivian Etten (Tiffany Haddish) steps in to ask Nic to investigate Javi as a possible international criminal. The whole film is a meta-commentary on Cage’s unusual life and career and the film is gonzo and ridiculous in the best way. Haddish is game for the zaniness, and she manages to steal every scene.

1 Girls Trip (2017)

Tiffany Haddish in Girls Trip
  • Girls Trip is available to stream on DirecTV.

Malcolm D. Lee's feel-good buddy comedy Girls Trip provided Tiffany Haddish with the breakout role of a lifetime in Dina, a hilarious party hound who brings the utmost fun to her friends' New Orleans escapade. After straying from each other in adulthood, lifelong friends Ryan (Regina Hall), Sasha (Queen Latifah), Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Dina reunite for the raucous Essence festival in the Big Easy. Girls Trip is outrageous, gross-out, and incredibly funny, rarely stopping to catch its breath. It’s the film all future Tiffany Haddish movies will be compared against as Dina is in the same echelons as Zach Galifianakis in The Hangover and Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids.
