Don't Look Up director Adam McKay says Jennifer Lawrence is already working on her voice for their next movie together, Bad Blood. The actress, best known for her roles in the X-Men and Hunger Games film series, won an Academy Award for her poignant performance in 2012's Silver Linings Playbook, while also receiving Oscar nods for her breakthrough performance in 2010's Winter's Bone and roles in two other David O. Russell films, American Hustle and Joy. After a short break from acting, Lawrence's most recent role came in McKay's climate crisis satire as Kate Dibiasky, a young astronomer who discovers a planet-destroying comet.

Fresh off her high-profile performance in Don't Look Up, Lawrence already has plans to reteam with the film's writer/director on another project. Bad Blood will see Lawrence take on the role of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Based on a book by John Carreyrou, the film will chronicle the rise and fall of the multibillion-dollar Silicon Valley startup that set out to revolutionize blood testing but came crashing down when Holmes was convicted of criminal fraud and conspiracy. Lawrence will be the first to portray the disgraced entrepreneur on the big screen, though Holmes has been the subject of the HBO documentary, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley. Amanda Seyfried will also portray her in an upcoming series, The Dropout, on Hulu.

In a recent interview with Insider discussing his Netflix hit, Don't Look Up, McKay was asked about how the film's lead star was preparing for their next project together, Bad Blood. Though he hasn't heard it himself yet, McKay says Lawrence has already begun working on nailing Holmes' distinctly deep voice for the film. Read what he had to say below:

You know, I haven't made her do it for me yet. She said she's been working on it. She's about to have a baby so I'm not going to bug her right now but she's born to play that role. With the voice, she said she's feeling it. She's excited.

Lawrence is known for her slightly raspy voice, which is part of what makes her such an ideal choice for this character. Though she will still have to lower her voice a bit to capture the essence of Elizabeth Holmes. The Theranos founder is known to have a deep baritone voice, which many have accused her of faking. Lawrence has played real-life figures before, including her Oscar-nominated portrayal of Joy Mangano, so there's every reason to believe she'll be fully prepared for Bad Blood.

Given how poorly received Lawrence's Russian accent was in Red Sparrow, it's no surprise she would want to get a head start on Bad Blood and begin perfecting her voice early on. Though it won't be a regional accent that challenges her this time around, but a matter of lowering her pitch. While that film is still a ways away, fans can check out Lawrence's performance in Don't Look Up on Netflix right now.
