Michelle Ang – voice actress of the young clone Omega in Disney+'s animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch –teases what's in store for season 2 with a picture of herself in a voice recording studio. The titular Bad Batch (A.K.A. Clone Force 99) are an elite unit of genetically modified clones who made their first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7. Earlier this year, Lucasfilm released The Bad Batch as a standalone series spinning off from their debut in The Clone Wars. Lucasfilm confirmed that The Bad Batch will return for season 2, which is expected to air sometime next year in 2022.

The show introduced audiences to a mysterious new character named Omega who, throughout the course of the series, is gradually revealed to be a perfect, unmodified clone (apart from her gender) of the legendary bounty hunter, Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison). Omega's inquisitive nature and sibling-like dynamic with the Bad Batch immediately endeared her to fans, making her one of the standout characters of the show. In many ways, her relationship with the squad's leader, Hunter (Dee Bradley Baker), is the emotional heart of the entire series.

Ang recently posted a picture of herself in the recording studio to "tidy up some work on [The Bad Batch]." The picture does not reveal much apart from a distant, blurry image of what appears to be the Bad Batch members Tech and possibly Echo (both of whom are voiced by Dee Bradley Baker). Ang's caption seems to imply that the actress is nearly done recording her scenes for the show. If season 2 is set to release around the same window as season 1 did this year (May 4), it makes sense that the show's cast would be wrapping up soon. Like many other animated projects, Star Wars' animated shows typically record voice lines alongside a rough animatic, which is then fleshed out to sync the actors' line deliveries. This is most clearly demonstrated in the unfinished The Clone Wars episodes Lucasfilm unveiled in 2015, which show the early animatics accompanied by full voice acting. With voice actors finishing now, animators will have several months to complete their work on the show before it airs.

The Bad Batch was, in many ways, a pleasant surprise. Despite tepid reactions to the series' initial announcement, the show's first season proved to be a worthy successor to the legacy of George Lucas' final Star Wars project (i.e. The Clone Wars). It acts as a narrative bridge connecting The Clone Wars to Dave Filoni's Star Wars: Rebels, while also serving as the closing chapter to the entire prequel trilogy era. With The Bad Batch's finale teasing connections to the old Expanded Universe, season 2 is sure to have even more surprising revelations in store.
