It is hard to believe that the Backyard Baseball franchise is over twenty years old now. Those who grew up playing these games still rave about them to this very day, as they are timeless. Sure, they may not look as beautiful as modern baseball video games, but they are immensely fun and possess a lot of unique qualities that help enhance their playability. The characters in these games are also extremely memorable, as they did a fantastic job creating them. Not only do they all have certain quirks and skills, but also their very own music.

These classic games definitely have characters who are among the elite, however. When picking a team, people tend to draft a specific group of players, as their talents help provide them with a better chance of winning. There definitely are players on these games that are decent, but they just cannot measure up to the best out the bunch.

Kenny Kawaguchi

Kenny Kawaguchi from Backyard Baseball

Kenny Kawaguchi is an elite pitcher in the first installment of the series. This is what allows him to be a valuable asset to any baseball roster, as he is virtually unhittable. He also is quite quick when running the base paths, so he definitely is a steal threat at any time.

In later games, his skill drops off a bit, but his dominance in the original series warrants him a spot among the best ever. He is just one of the coolest players to use too, so it certainly enhances his value.

Amir Khan

Amir Khan from Backyard Baseball

Amir Khan is a very talented player in these games. This is due to the fact that he offers a bit of everything on the baseball field. He is a marvelous pitcher, but also offers stability when it comes to his hitting ability.

He seems to only get better in later installments of the series, as well, so he certainly is a great pick every single time. He may not be the best of the bunch, but he definitely beats the average by a wide margin.

Tony Delvecchio

Tony Delvecchio from Backyard Baseball

Tony Delvecchio is certainly a memorable character from the series. His personality is one of the most humorous in the game, and he is a cool guy who is always munching on lollipops while playing. His skills are also quite impressive.

Tony has a decent amount of power, which meshes well with his strong throwing arm. He also does a fantastic job when he is batting in a closed stance. This is where he is more likely to hit home runs.

Dmitri Petrovich

Dmitri Petrovich from Backyard Baseball

Dmitri Petrovich is not only a genius, but he also is quite talented at baseball. Although he struggles when it comes to pitching and fielding, his batting and running abilities are quite impressive. This makes him a valuable asset to any team.

When Dmitri is up at the plate, he is always capable of hitting home runs, too. This is what allows him to be a splendid choice in the middle of the lineup. Upon first glance, players may assume that he is not talented, but his abilities as a power hitter are not to be underestimated.

Mikey Thomas

Mikey Thomas from Backyard Baseball

What Mikey Thomas lacks in functional sinuses, he makes up for on the baseball field. He tires out quickly, yes, but he is still a wonderful ballplayer. He is a top-of-the-line power hitter, as he is known for his long home runs.

It also helps that he has a cannon of an arm, which makes him a valuable choice as a catcher. He is a bit on the slower side and can't pitch that well, but his other skills allow him to be one of the best available picks.

Angela Delvecchio

Tony's sister, Angela Delvecchio, is also quite an awesome player in these games. She possesses plenty of power while also easily being one of the top pitchers in the game. This is what makes her an easy choice every single time.

She does tend to tire out easily while also being bad at fielding, but the positives absolutely outweigh these negative attributes. For the experienced player, she is not only a solid choice for a power hitter, but she can hold her own on the mound, as well.

Kiesha Phillips

Kiesha Phillips from Backyard Baseball

Kiesha Phillips is one of the best characters out there for sure. This is the case from the very start of the series. Besides not only being a very effective power hitter, she also possesses a lot of speed. This makes her a real threat.

Her primary struggles come from the mound, but that is easily manageable. She is meant to be placed in the middle of the lineup, too, as she is an RBI machine with her ability to hit for contact when needed too.

Achmed Khan

Achmed Khan from Backyard Baseball

The aspiring rockstar, Achmed Khan, can be labeled as easily one of the top hitters in these games. This is due to the fact that he has the ability to hit home runs at any time while not being prone to striking-out. This is why he is the perfect cleanup hitter to have.

Achmed is a home run threat any time he gets up to bat, which really helps his value overall. He also is deceptively quick and is a good option for a catcher because of his decent arm. Overall, he is a must every time one plays this game.

Pete Wheeler

Pete Wheeler from Backyard Baseball

Pete Wheeler may not be the smartest kid, but his speed makes him be able to get on base virtually any time he makes contact. If a player opts to bunt with him, he will easily get on base. This is what allows him to be a valuable option as a leadoff hitter.

Yet, his skill does not end there, as he has a good amount of power to go along with a strong arm. He excels at every aspect of the game while easily being the fastest player, and most would agree that he's the best player in the game... save for one untouchable legend.

Pablo Sanchez

Pablo Sanchez from Backyard Baseball

Pablo Sanchez is by far the best player in this said series, and there is absolutely no room for argument. For a little guy, Pablo has a monstrous amount of power, which makes him able to hit a plethora of dingers.

His elite skill does not stop there, as he is one of the fastest and best fielders in the series, as well. Pablo has the ability to dominate the game in every aspect and position. He is the heart of Backyard Baseball, so yes, he is the king of the diamond in these games. Oh, and his walkup song is nothing short of iconic.
