The beta for Back 4 Blood is here, and players are eager for getting into the swing of things. This team-based zombie shooter takes inspiration directly from the Left 4 Dead series. Players will take on hundreds of zombies, and special infected monsters, as they navigate through perilous terrain and cities. One of the main aspects of this game is keeping the team alive with healing items. Since this is a zombie title, resources are limited, so players will need to get creative when they want to heal. Luckily, there are a few different ways that players can heal in Back 4 Blood.

Health works a bit differently in this title when compared to normal shooters. Typically, players can find a first-aid kit in the area to heal back up to 100%. In Back 4 Blood, players can experience something called Trauma where players lose their maximum health. This means players will only be able to heal their characters up to a possible 85% maximum. This can get scary during critical situations.

Here's how players can heal in Back 4 Blood.

  • Health Kits and Bandages: These can be found right before leaving the safe room. Bandages only heal a bit of health while Health Kits add much more. Find them when exploring the map whenever the player can.
  • Pain Pills: This item will restore a player's HP temporarily. This is a good item to have during a critical moment.
  • Living On A Prayer Card: This is one of the Back 4 Blood Deckbuilding Cards players will find to add a bit of spice to each level. This one in particular will reward the player with 1 HP for every enemy they kill during low health.
  • First Aid Stations: These function as safe rooms within the middle of the level and can sometimes randomly appear in different locations when replaying the level. At higher difficulties, these can only be opened if the player has the tool kit with them, which can be bought at the start of each level.

This title has the potential to be the next big co-op shooter. There has been a massive demand for a new Left 4 Dead-like title so it's pleasant to see this game finally make its debut this October. The beta left many positive impressions, so it will be interesting how the final game can continue to build on that.
