Ryan Fox was the first contestant to be eliminated from Michelle Young's season of The Bachelorette after his folder of notes was revealed, but he's claiming that this situation was a total misunderstanding. Bachelor Nation saw Ryan for the first time during The Bachelorette season 18 premiere. Ryan showed up on night one driving an ice cream truck, claiming that he knew Michelle had a sweet tooth for the frozen dessert. The pair had an initial attraction, but things between them quickly turned as the night went on.

Specifically, co-hosts Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe discovered that Ryan had a binder of notes consisting of information on how to get more screen time, how to receive a good edit from producers, and his overall strategy for the show. The ladies approached Michelle about the situation, and she was clearly not happy. Michelle then pulled Ryan aside and asked him to show her the notes he had. Once they got to his room, Ryan showed her what he had, and Michelle was not pleased. She sent him home immediately after and continued on with her search to find her future husband.

Following Ryan's sudden elimination, he came on as a guest on the Click Bait podcast with The Bachelor stars Joe Amabile, Natasha Parker, and guest host Tia Booth, who revealed her new boyfriend recently. During his interview, Ryan addressed his binder of notes and claimed that he had "no time" to do his own research before coming onto the show. "It's the biggest building season of the year, and so I had zero time in the world to do anything," Ryan explained. Not only did the environmental consultant have a "short amount of time to get ready," he had no idea what the show was about or who Michelle was. "The only things that I asked my friend's wife, my close friend - 'Hey, can you give me like, a summary of the show? Can you give me a summary of Michelle? Show me everything [...] because I've got too much going on,'" Ryan, who's a rumored producer plant, explained.

Ryan also revealed that some of what Michelle read was from his personal journal, which consisted of descriptions of previous relationships. "I'm a big journaler," he said. "I think it's a big thing about being introspective, so one of the things they read is my self-devotionals, I guess, like my pros and cons list of myself." So when Michelle asked to see his notes, he wasn't worried as he thought there was nothing wrong with what the notes contained. "I think that's where the misunderstanding is, is that it's literally my journal. What she's reading is my personal journal," Ryan argued. However, co-host Tia wondered why he would even need the notes if he knew so much about Michelle, who has no first-night regrets, on the show. Ryan confessed that he did some research on Instagram right before entering the limo.

Despite the night going south for Ryan, he was able to see some humor in the situation. While Michelle may not have been the one for him, he still hopes she will find what she is looking for by the end of the season. Perhaps viewers will see Ryan again on the beach next summer on Bachelor In Paradise season 8.
