Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay has opened up in a recent interview about the criticism she has received since going public about her bi-coastal marriage to Bryan Abasolo. Lindsay, who first appeared on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor, made history as the first African-American Bachelorette back in 2017. It was there she met Abasolo, who beat out the rest of the competition and ultimately won her heart.

Lindsay, 35, didn’t fear opening up about her relationship with Abasolo, which is still going strong. Abasolo, 40, is a Miami native and works as a chiropractor. Lindsay is juggling several different titles at the moment, including co-host for the Higher Learning podcast alongside Van Lathan and host of MTV’s Ghosted: Love Gone Missing. Fans have been quick to question the couple’s decision to live on separate coasts, with Abasolo in Miami and Lindsay in Los Angeles. However, the former Bachelorette isn’t tolerating the unsolicited judgment from Bachelor Nation.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Lindsay explained many people don’t realize the couple had already been living apart due to her work, which required an ample amount of travel. She noted she was hardly ever home with Abasolo, but it wasn’t by choice. Lindsay says when Bachelor Nation began to question their relationship, she decided to be more forward about her situation with her husband. She even went as far as to say she had seen him just the previous weekend, but they didn’t post on social media about it because they were focusing on each other.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the two quarantined together and got plenty of quality time in. Lindsay says they kept busy with skincare routines and couples’ workouts, and they are still each other’s best friends. Despite the fact they will now be spending more time apart than together, Lindsay sounds confident the couple can overcome pretty much anything. They did survive The Bachelorette, after all.

Lindsay has said she’s “addicted” to working, but it isn’t a problem for Abasolo. In fact, she's even gushed he’s attracted to her ambition, and he is one of her biggest cheerleaders. With that kind of support and love, it’s hard to imagine the two are heading for divorce anytime soon. Despite any challenges, it seems the former Bachelorette and Abasolo are still going strong. Bachelor Nation might want to double-check its sources next time before jumping to conclusions about the couple.
