Nate Mitchell received the first one-on-one date from Gabby Windey on The Bachelorette season 19, and he now reveals why, after the date, he only wanted to pursue Gabby rather than try to get to know her co-Bachelorette Rachel Recchia as well. Nate, a 33-year-old electrical engineer from Chicago, Illinois, impressed Bachelor Nation with his sensitive and mature personality. Even before his date with Gabby, he was a hero to the women unbeknownst to them, when he defended them against comments made by Chris Austin. Chris told some of the other men that if he slept with one of the women in the Fantasy Suite, then he would expect that she would not sleep with anyone else. Nate told Chris that his "preconditions to love" were "the form of control that a lot of men just don't realize that they do that damages good women."

Nate then went on Gabby's first one-on-one date of the Bachelorette season. They shared their first kiss, which Nate described as "magical." They rode in a helicopter and spent time in a hot tub together. At dinner, they opened up to each other about their families, and Nate told Gabby all about his 6-year-old daughter who he said is the biggest part of him. He described her as the human form of coffee and said that she is "a little me." Nate said, "I'm a girl dad, 1000%." Nate's love for his daughter brought Gabby to tears as she explained that, although she is close to her father, she and her mother do not have a close relationship. She told him that this has made her who she is today. Gabby was so impressed by Nate's maturity and ability to have fun. They had a great connection, so she gave him her rose on the date.

Although some of the Bachelorette season 19 men have expressed that they still have interest in pursuing both women, after his date with Gabby, Nate revealed that he was "all-in" on her. On the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Nate said that at first he was open to meeting both women, and he did not want any preconceived notions from television about the women to "usurp actual connections." However, he said that he was "not about to try to juggle," and he wanted to focus on one of them, "the sooner the better." Since he did not get to talk to either of the women after his introduction on the first night, he said that he knew that he would have to go out on a limb and see who resonated more with him based on his observations of them with the other men. Nate felt that Gabby was more similar to him, so he was "more than ecstatic" when she invited him to join her on the one-on-one date.

Nate also shared that he was shocked, but so happy and excited, that Gabby chose him for the one-on-one date. After the date, he was "all-in on Gabby." He said that the date was effortless, and although he gets along with a lot of people, "for something to be that seamless, I wasn't gonna try and search for it elsewhere." Even though he knew that Rachel was an amazing woman, he did not want to take any time away from fully immersing himself in his relationship with Gabby and exploring their connection.

On this unprecedented season of The Bachelorette, it is only natural that the men might be interested in both Rachel and Gabby. However, after Nate's incredible one-on-one date with Gabby, it is no wonder that he is locked in on her. As the weeks pass and the guys have to choose between them, decisive men such as Nate will most likely be more attractive to the women than men who go back and forth between them. Bachelor Nation is so smitten with Nate, that, even if he does not find love with Gabby, they are already hoping that he will be the next Bachelor.
