After a recent episode of The Bachelorette, ABC’s Instagram account shared an unaired clip featuring Michelle Young’s contestants that made fans realize that they’ve been missing out on a lot of great content this season. For years, The Bachelorette viewers have complained that the network prioritizes drama above all else, and the decision to divert focus to the more controversial moments has left little room in the show for more lighthearted moments that highlight camaraderie between contestants. Fans are fed up with the best scenes constantly getting left on the cutting room floor and are hoping the show makes a change.

Michelle’s season of The Bachelorette has seen a lot of ups and downs, but there have been several one-on-one dates that have furthered Michelle’s relationships with some of the men. Now, Michelle’s season has moved to Minnesota and the lead is ready to get serious about finding who she wants to spend her life with after The Bachelorette. There’s also been significant drama involving multiple contestants, like Jamie Skaar, Chris Sutton, and Peter “Pizzaboy” Izzo. But Joe Coleman and Nate Olukoya have emerged as frontrunners, and Michelle is still keeping her options open, as there are several other great men still in her cast.

In a bonus scene released by ABC on its Instagram (included below), several of the men on Michelle’s season are joking around about the mansion they’re visiting being haunted. The cast members talk about whether any of them would be brave enough to spend the night among possible surrounding ghosts, and even have fun freaking contestant Rodney Mathews out with spooky conversation. Fans loved seeing the unaired footage, but many wondered why this scene was cut from the episode. It isn’t the first time that a lighthearted scene depicting friendships between contestants has been edited out, and for a lot of fans, that’s a big mistake. These moments are often really funny and help the audience get a better sense of what the contestants are really like.

In recent years, Bachelor Nation fans have complained that the show has become old and stale because of the focus on drama above all else - sometimes even above the lead’s love story. Funny and engaging scenes featuring Bachelorette contestants goofing around, like the one from the recent episode, are left out of the show as well. When there’s too much controversy and contrived drama on the show, fans can start to get bored. Including scenes like these would help mix up the tone of each episode and keep things interesting. Moments like these give viewers a better window into the contestants’ personalities, and they’re just plain fun.

During this season of The Bachelorette, there have been plenty of romantic scenes with genuine connections to balance out the often producer-driven drama. However, much of the audience would enjoy a little more humor in each episode, and knowing that there are funny moments on film that don’t make it on TV is disappointing. Hours and hours of footage are shot for each episode and it’s a tough job to find out what to include and what to cut out. But the best way to capture an audience’s attention is to offer up a little bit of everything - including the humor.
