The Bachelorette Katie Thurston was recently blasted by Reality Steve for claiming she only wanted to keep contestant Thomas Jacobs around for Fantasy Suite week. Thomas quickly became the season 17 villain, and while he had a dramatic exit from the show, Reality Steve thinks he deserves better than the way Katie is treating him.

Thomas started this season of The Bachelorette off as a smooth talker. His reputation quickly went into a downward spiral when he revealed that he came on the show with hopes of possibly becoming The Bachelor when it was all over. This caused the other guys in the house to dislike Thomas, and they also saw him as disingenuous. At his final rose ceremony, Katie called his name, making him think he was going to be given a rose. She then went off on him and told Thomas that his audition for The Bachelor was over and that he could go home. This led to mixed comments from fans, with some applauding Katie for how she sent him home and others thinking she was too harsh on him. It seems as though now Katie is getting some heat for comments she made on a recent podcast.

Katie sat down with Nick Viall on his podcast The Viall Files and revealed she only debated keeping Thomas around because she wanted him there for fantasy suite week. She said, “he’s hot and I was really hoping to be honest to take him to fantasy suites, you know? But like I don’t have time to waste and so I was like, ‘You gotta go.’” Reality Steve posted a blog about this and said he had issues with this reveal from Katie. He said, “Can you imagine if it were the other way around and a Bachelor spoke about one of his women that way? ‘Man, I was hoping to get her in the fantasy suites.’” He went on to say that if a guy were to do that, he would be booted off the show and then forced to apologize immediately on Instagram for his actions.

Reality Steve went on to say that Katie would likely be very upset if someone like the former Bachelor Matt James made comments about their relationship only being physical and that he wished he could have hooked up with her in the fantasy suite. It seems like he is trying to point out a double standard that exists in Bachelor nation where a female can get away with saying something like this, but if a male said it, the story would not end so well.

While Thomas definitely deserved to get sent home, it seems like maybe Katie is taking the entire situation too far. She already sent him home on The Bachelorette in a brutal way by calling him out in front of every guy in the house. It is not necessary for her to continue bringing him down with every opportunity she is given. It is not a good look for Katie.
