The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston is being mocked by fans for her outfits in the latest promo video for her upcoming season. Bachelor Nation bashed her prom-like dress and odd graphic T-shirt worn in the clip. Katie is currently on location filming season 17 of the show.
Fans had been wanting Katie to be the next Bachelorette since she showed her courageous side during her time in Matt James' season of The Bachelor. She was not once afraid to speak her mind, even if her opinions differed from that of the rest of the girls. Not long after her shocking elimination, rumors speculated that she would in fact be chosen as the show's next lead. It was later announced that she and Michelle Young would be the next two Bachelorettes, with Katie filming her season first.
With her season of The Bachelorette less than two months away from premiering, the latest promo video for Katie's season was just released. Shortly after its release, Bachelor Nation was quick to bash Katie's fashion choices in the clip. Katie was seen wearing a purple prom-like gown for a majority of the trailer. Fans on Reddit joked that the dress could be worn for a 15-year-old's Quinceanera party. It was not fitting for a 30-year-old woman trying to find her potential husband. Later in the trailer, she paired the gown with a white graphic T-shirt that read, "Be a Katie." Fans would have much rather seen Katie in the backwards purple skirt from the first trailer for the season rather than this gown. Many believe that the wardrobe choices were not of Katie's doing. The show's stylist, Cary Fretman, has been given the blame by Bachelor Nation. He too took the blame for Katie wearing her skirt backwards in the first promo. Fans are calling for him to be fired from the production team. They fear that Katie's season will be full of wardrobe mishaps if he continues to style her. Others noted that Katie looked quite uncomfortable in the video, almost like she was forcing a smile. It was recently reported that the change in host from Chris Harrison to former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe has been anything but smooth. Perhaps this, along with her horrid wardrobe options, was a part of the reason Katie looked uncomfortable while filming the short trailer.
While it is unknown when Katie will wrap up filming her season of The Bachelorette, it is set to premiere on Monday, June 7. Katie, who is typically quite active on social media, has been absent from Instagram since her March departure for filming. Although fans now have quite low expectations for her looks this season, here's hoping the stylist will dress Katie in outfits that better suit her personality, and perhaps her age, for the rest of the season.
