Former The Bachelorette lead Katie Thurston has recently been spotted with her ex-boyfriend John Hersey, days after the couple announced their split. Katie and John first met on The Bachelorette season 17, where John received a rose from Katie on night one. However, the two did not form a strong connection while filming, which resulted in him being sent home during the second rose ceremony. At the end of the season, Katie became engaged instead to Blake Moynes, who had joined her season late after previously appearing on The Bachelorette season 16 led by Clare Crawley and later Tayshia Adams.
Two months after The Bachelorette season 17 finale aired, Katie and Blake announced that they had ended their engagement and gone their separate ways. One month after that, Katie announced that she and John were now in a relationship. The news was met with mixed reactions, with Blake even saying that he felt there had been mental cheating when he and Katie were still together. Katie and John went strong as a couple for seven months; however, they announced their break-up in this past week
In an Instagram story on June 23, John revealed that he and Katie had been hanging out post break-up. The story showed John and Katie at the San Diego County Fair, alongside Bachelor in Paradise alum Tammy Kay Ly and other friends. The first story featured John's POV of a tall swing ride, in which he tagged Katie, Tammy and several others. The following story was a video of both Katie and Tammy on what appeared to be another big ride, with John riding across from them. Everyone seemed to be having a really fun time.
Unlike Katie and Blake, who did not maintain a close relationship after ending their engagement, it seems that Katie and John have been able to remain good friends. As their break-up was announced not even a week ago, it is unlikely that the couple has already gotten back together. Unfortunately, this has not been the case for a large number of Bachelor Nation couples, so fans are happy to see that Katie and John have been able to stay friends.
Katie and John join a long list of other Bachelor Nation couples to recently call it quits. Only a few days before Katie and John, Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya from The Bachelorette season 18 announced that they had ended their engagement. Bachelor in Paradise season 7 couple Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian also ended their own engagement in January 2022. Prior to that in November 2021, The Bachelorette season 16 stars Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark ended things as well. Nonetheless, although some fans are sad to see the romance between Katie and John come to an end, they are glad that they are able to remain on good terms.
