The Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe opens up about concerns over Dancing With The Stars, impacting partnership with her boyfriend, Jason Tartick. Bachelor Nation fan favorite Kaitlyn Bristowe won over the hearts of viewers, starting with her debut on Chris Soules’s season 19 of The Bachelor, which led to her landing a spot competing for the lead role on season 11 of The Bachelorette in 2015. The Canada native beat fellow contestant Britt Nilsson for the role and went on to become one of the most beloved Bachelorette’s in the show's history.
On the show, Kaitlyn got engaged to personal trainer Shawn Booth, and the couple went on to have a lengthy engagement that ended after three years. The couple announced their split in November 2018, and Kaitlyn went public with details of the rocky relationship that led to the decision for the couple to split. Although things didn’t work out for Kaitlyn and Shawn, Kaitlyn has since moved on to date Bachelorette contestant Jason Tartick, who first appeared vying for the heart of Becca Kufrin in 2018. The 30-year-old was also a fan favorite on his season, but he was sent home during week 9. Kaitlyn and Jason met on her Off The Vine podcast after he was eliminated, and they soon announced their relationship in January of 2019, three months after her breakup with Shawn. Since then, the couple has shown their romance to the world and appeared on The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons— Ever! together, where Chris Harrison gave Kaitlyn the news she would be appearing on the next season of Dancing With The Stars.
Kaitlyn isn’t the first former Bachelor star to appear on the celebrity dancing competition. She is joining the ranks of Jake Pavelka, Nick Viall, Hannah Brown, and even ex Chris Soules, who have all competed on the show years prior. Many of The Bachelor stars who have appeared on DWTS have gone on to end their relationships with contestants chosen from their seasons. Perhaps most infamous was Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi, who have since attributed Nick's appearance on the show as a reason their relationship failed. But even with this elusive DWTS romance curse, Katilyn isn't worried and has spoken out on Blake Horstmann Behind the Rose podcast about her security in her relationship with Jason, “We’ve talked about the fact that people have said that or maybe it has done something to relationships.” She explains, “But when you have people — well, one that are in love — but two, Jason is such a confident, supportive human being and I feel like I grew up dancing with guys my whole life. … It’s so different for each relationship and I just feel like we’re in such a solid place and have such a good foundation.”
She went on to say that relationships are about trust, and her and Jason have that and more, “We have full trust in each other. Like, go dance your a– off with whoever the hell you’re gonna dance with, that’s great! But you have to have confidence in that. And for those relationships that did break, that’s a testament to the foundation and … it probably would’ve happened anyway.” She also acknowledged that the hardest part will be being away from Jason, “There’s gonna be tests through every relationship, and I mean, if Dancing With the Stars is one, I’m not worried about it.”
It looks like this is one relationship that will overcome the curse of the Dancing With The Stars, and fans can look forward to the new season premiering Monday, September 14.
