Former contestant of The Bachelorette, J.P. Rosenbaum recently opened up about his struggle with rare disease, Guillain-Barré syndrome. The father of two revealed that his health has been slowly improving every day.

J.P. was a standout contestant on season 7 of The Bachelorette. From their first meeting, he and Ashley had unmistakable chemistry. J.P. vigorously pursued her throughout the season up until the finale. As he popped the question, Ashley responded with an enthusiastic "Yes" and shortly thereafter, the couple married in a televised ceremony. J.P. and Ashley, more or less, disappeared from Bachelor Nation's radar, seemingly trading fame for a normal marriage and family life. Their son Fordham was born in 2014. He was followed by sister Essex in 2016. Back in early December, J.P. revealed to his fans that he has the rare nervous system disorder, Guillain-Barré syndrome. However, the couple is committed to helping each other in sickness and in health.

In a recent update, J.P. opened up to his fans about his health on his Instagram Stories (via People). He revealed, "So I figured I would give you all an update. This past Monday marked 3 weeks since I was discharged from the hospital, and I have been slowly getting better every couple of days." The father of two revealed that he's doing both physical and occupational therapy to regain his strength again and that he's "progressing." J.P. continued, "My physical therapist said that I’m very, very lucky that I’m able to do things three weeks later that I shouldn’t be able to do, which is all incredible. My fine motor skills are virtually all back."

J.P. Rosenbaum The Bachelorette Hospital Bed

Just a few weeks ago, J.P. revealed that he was unable to do a lot of things, simple tasks such as turning a key, opening a bottle, or other tasks that require fine-motor skills. While there's no real cure for Guillain-Barré,  J.P. has maintained a positive outlook. J.P. admitted that laying in the hospital bed, unable to do the things he took for granted before, made him "very scared." After an infusion of immunoglobulins, his symptoms started to plateau. This is a good sign for J.P., indicating that his symptoms would no likely get worse. With the worst behind him, he's grateful for his refound health, saying, "I am lucky to be okay. That has not escaped me."

As J.P. is getting back on his feet, literally, he's getting back into the swing of taking care of his kids again. This former The Bachelorette star is very lucky that he's regained his health like he did, as many people suffering from this rare neurological disorder are overcome with complete paralysis.
