After almost a year since they announced their split, J.P. Rosenbaum has officially filed for divorce from former Bachelorette Ashley Herbert. The pair met while filming season 7 of the show when Ashley was the lead. Her final two came down to J.P and Ben Flajnik, who went on to be the next Bachelor. In fact, Ashley's final rose episode was quite memorable, as she let Ben get down on one knee and propose before telling him he wasn't the one.

Once she declined Ben's proposal, it was J.P.'s turn to propose, and Ashley accepted. The couple was married a year-and-a-half their proposal aired in 2012. The wedding also aired as a TV special of the reality series shortly after they said their "I dos." Two years after they tied the knot, they welcomed their first child, a son named Fordham. According to recent court documents, Us Weekly can confirm that J.P has officially filed for divorce from Ashley. The 44-year-old recently submitted the paperwork to end their marriage in Miami-Dade County on July 28. The filing took place just nine months after the longtime couple announced their separation. "It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that, after months of separation, Jp and I have amicably decided to go our separate ways," Ashley said in the caption of an October 2020 Instagram post. "We created the most beautiful children and shared memories that will never be forgotten [...] Please respect our privacy as we move forward with the newness of our lives [...] Thank you for your love and support throughout the years."

As for J.P., he expressed the same sentiment as the 36-year-old, however, he also felt a "level of disbelief and extreme sadness" from the split. J.P, who suffered from a rare disease, also revealed that the couple had already been separated for several months before the announcement. "Please know that there is no one to blame, that there’s no event that triggered this decision," he stated. "I think we’ve both come to realize that we are just two very different people, with very different personalities and perspectives." Several months later, in February, J.P revealed that he was ready to start dating again, but didn't know where to start. With COVID-19, he was unable to meet someone organically, but people have reached out to him via Instagram. J.P. is hesitant to meet someone that way, as he has kids, but he is still open to the idea.

Even though J.P. and Ashley are no longer together, they are doing their best to co-parent children. The former Bachelorette couple still praises each other for their parenting skills and clearly still have a love for one another. While they may be divorced, J.P. and Ashley will always be family.
