Jared Haibon, of The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise fame, recently responded to social media commenters who were shaming him and wife Ashley Iaconetti Haibon for the product placement on their honeymoon photos following their wedding. Getting married can be super expensive, but not all fans think that's the case for Bachelor Nation alums.
Jared and Ashley are one of the latest couples from the franchise to tie the knot. Their love was a slow burn, or rather a result of Ashley striking the match repeatedly until the romance caught fire. The two spent a couple seasons in Paradise as they dated, fought, and supported each other through other relationships as friends. But it wasn't until the cameras stopped rolling that their on-again, off-again partnership turned into something that would last. They were engaged on season five of Bachelor in Paradise on the beaches of Mexico while an envious cast watched from above. Their wedding was not televised, but they made sure to post a ton of pictures and videos so that they could share their special day with their fans. As is usually the case when any Bachelor alum posts pictures from an event that should be joyous, some social media users took issue with this.
After Ashley posted a honeymoon photo of her and Jared on Instagram of the couple in Italy, one Instagram user didn't like that the caption included a sponsor. That person wrote (via: Us Weekly), “Out of all the ads and bulls–t you can do you’d think your wedding would be the one sacred thing to relax on.” Jared said that he knew he shouldn't respond to the comment, but couldn't help himself. He typed back, “To be clear, we didn’t make money on our wedding or honeymoon. We actually spent a lot of money because it was our special day and we worked really hard planning both.”
Ashley got involved as well, writing, "To leave a nasty comment based on a false assumption is something I really don’t like. Especially when it has to do with someone’s wedding.” In a previous post, Jared had clapped back to another user who had said that the couple should move on from posting wedding photos because their special day was over. Jared responded, “It was the best night of my life. I’ll be posting about it for a while lol.”
While Ashley and Jared likely didn't need to empty the coffers to make the wedding happen, they rightfully took offense to a few Instagram commenters suggesting the day and subsequent honeymoon was planned out for them. While being a cast member on The Bachelor and its affiliates does open up opportunities to make more money through sponsored content on social media, it doesn't change the fact that these are real people navigating their way through real life challenges.
