Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown is making a splash on the newest season of Dancing With the Stars. After last week's fun Cha Cha, Brown and partner Alan Bersten switched gears this week with a smooth Viennese Waltz. Their dance was a smashing success, earning the duo the highest scores of the night.
After a particularly difficult experience on her season of The Bachelorette, Brown started her journey on Dancing With the Stars last week full of hope and optimism. She described the new opportunity as a "fresh start" and expressed genuine excitement about working with Bersten over the course of the season. The pair's high-energy Cha Cha to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" started off the season on the right foot. Although she didn't receive glowing reviews from the judges, the dance was enough to keep Brown out of the bottom two this week, even with the surprising rule change that combines fans' live votes with the judges' scores.
During their week two performance, Brown and Bersten showed they're here to compete. Toning things down from the spirited dance of last week, the pair performed a polished Viennese Waltz to Taylor Swift's "Lover." Prior to the performance, Brown revealed that she had taken dance classes as a child, and even used dance as her talent during her pageant days. Her prior experience paid off. According to Us Weekly, Brown and Bersten's performance was unrivaled among their competitors. Judge Len Goodman even went so far as to call it the "best dance of the night."
The judges' glowing reviews were echoed in their scores. Brown and Bersten earned eights across the board, totaling a high score of 24. The next highest score went to Kate Flannery and Pasha Pashkov, who managed to earn 21 total points out of 30. What's more, Brown and Bersten earned the first eights of the season in only the second week of performances.
While hearing the judges' feedback, Brown communicated that she'd been working hard to improve her dance skills and took Bersten's criticism to heart. She was proud to see her hard work recognized by the judges, especially because she's dancing for herself this time around. While her season of The Bachelorette may have ended in heartbreak, Brown's newest venture into the world of reality TV has the potential to produce a much more positive outcome If she continues on her current trajectory, Brown is certainly on the path to become a standout talent on this season of Dancing With the Stars.
