Gabby Windey, who is co-starring on The Bachelorette season 19 alongside Rachel Recchia, revealed how her two careers led her to decide that she prefers dating doctors over football players. Gabby and Rachel were both selected as the leads of the show after their tumultuous experience on The Bachelor season 26 during which Clayton Echard broke both of their hearts when he chose Susie Evans instead of them. They bonded and became best friends and now have a second chance at love.

Before Gabby joined Clayton Echard's season of The Bachelor, the 31-year-old worked simultaneously as an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse and as a Denver Broncos cheerleader. Gabby was an NFL cheerleader from 2016 to 2021. A friend nominated her for The Bachelor in 2018, but she could not appear on the show because its taping overlapped with football season. After she retired from cheerleading in April 2021, her friend nominated her again, and her journey withThe Bachelor franchise began. However, this was not her first experience dating someone from the show. When they were in college Gabby and Bachelor Nation star Dean Unglert fell in love and dated for over a year.

She said that as a nurse, "Naturally, I dated my fair share of doctors, definitely every specialty." When asked which specialty she liked the best, she answered, "I mean, I feel like the surgeons make the most money." Gabby then explained that while she was a cheerleader, she didn't date any football players because "I was older, you know, a lot of football players are fresh out of college. I was always attracted to brains versus brawns, sorry." Gabby was about 25 when she began her career as a cheerleader.

The Bachelorette's Gabby Windey as a Cheerleader

When Gabby was a nurse, she was very dedicated to the job, but she does not plan to return to her work in the ICU. In 2020, she received the Pop Warner Humanitarian Award for her work as an ICU nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gabby was the first woman and NFL cheerleader to receive the award, which is usually given to NFL players. She explained that she was an ICU nurse for eight years, "so it was a long time spent and a pretty critical environment. I think if I were to go back, I would switch gears away from the bedside." She said that becoming a sports broadcaster would be "kind of a natural transition" after her time as a reality television star. However, Gabby said that she prefers the written word, and she was the sports editor of her high school newspaper.

Before her time with the Bachelor franchise, Gabby lived a completely different life that allowed her to determine her dating preferences and what she is looking for in her future partner. She is a multifaceted person, and her careers are a true reflection of her personality. Gabby is bubbly and has a great sense of humor, which makes for an ideal cheerleader, and she is compassionate and sensitive, which makes a perfect ICU nurse. Hopefully, whatever Gabby decides to do next, her dream of finding her true love to stand by her side will come true.
