Dale Moss is the latest in a line of athletes on The Bachelorette who, despite being an impressive physical specimen, had an unremarkable professional career. His NFL stat sheet is quite, well, empty. But clearly there's much more to like about Dale.

On the second episode of The Bachelorette, Dale and Clare Crawley's relationship continued to progress. Although she made headway with several of the other guys, like fellow former NFL athlete Jason Foster on the one-on-one, Clare has left no secret to the viewers that Dale is number one on her mind. Near the end of the episode, she told him that he was chosen for the first group date because he was the person she was most looking forward to seeing again. The audience already knows that at some point, Clare will end the competition and run off with Dale. It's still somewhat of a mystery as to when that decision takes place. Thus far, Dale is saying and doing all the right things to woo his future fiancée. He's clearly a pro at making a woman fall for him. How did he fare as a pro in sports?

Hailing from the Bachelor casting hotbed of South Dakota (kidding, of course), Dale played basketball and football at South Dakota State. Initially starring as a basketball player for the Jackrabbits — even his college mascot is a step above the rest! — Dale averaged 19 minutes and roughly 5.5 points per game throughout his four-year career. His senior year, he joined the SDSU football team, where he totaled a much more notable 61 receptions for 949 yards and six touchdowns. Dale's brief college stint on the gridiron garnered him NFL interest, but the career of the 6-foot-3, 215-pound wide receiver was short-lived. Dale signed as a free agent for the Green Bay Packers in 2012. After he was released, Dale joined the practice squads for the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before calling it a career.

The Bachelorette Dale Moss Clare Crawley

Like several Bachelorette contestants before him, including one who shall not be named, Dale will be known more for his time on the show than for anything he accomplished during his NFL career. Practice squad players aren't exactly household names. But regardless of how long his relationship lasts with Clare, Dale has already made a huge impression on the millions of Bachelor fans watching at home.

Clare didn't talk to Dale before the show, or so we're led to believe, but she surely stalked his social media handles prior. While his athletic prowess was certainly not the only quality about him that likely lured her in (he's a good-looking dude!), it's never a bad thing to be able to add former NFL player to the dating résumé. So far, it seems Dale the wide receiver is quite the...you know the rest.
