Blake Moynes struck out with both Clare and Tayshia on The Bachelorette, and like any of us after a tough breakup, he’s turned to his friends for support. Except one of his friends doesn’t think too highly of Bachelor Nation and is fixing to dump on the franchise. The friend in question couldn’t care less about Blake’s time on the show, and also happens to be an opossum.
The hunky Canadian had a rough go on The Bachelorette. Blake struggled after Clare left to forge a connection with Tayshia, but didn’t have enough time to do so. He did, however, manage to attract a solid fan base within Bachelor Nation, to the point where he seems like a shoo-in for Bachelor in Paradise. While fans hope to see him search for love on the beach this summer, they’re currently content with stalking Blake on Instagram. Though they come to thirst over his steamy shirtless photos, fans stay for his copious animal content, as Blake has a major soft spot for critters.
In a recent photo, Blake shows off his new opossum (or possum as the cool kids call them) friend and the surprise Blake found in its cage. Blake volunteers for an animal rescue organization called Urban Wildlife Care, and while cleaning out the possum’s cage, he stumbled across a newspaper article about himself on The Bachelorette. Imagine finding an article about yourself that’s essentially being used as toilet paper for North America’s only marsupial! But for Blake it was all in good fun, “Bachelor Nation loved to s*** on my relationship with @tayshia so why not let this cute Opossum do the same? Haha,” he joked in the post.
Bachelor Nation in general is big on animals, and cast members are always showing off their fur babies, like the new puppy Ben Smith adopted. As far as furry friends go, Blake clearly has excellent taste, and fans are totally on board with his possum pal. Even his fellow season 16 castmate Kenny Braasch chimed in, suggesting they set up the very single possum living under his parents’ house with Blake’s possum on sort of a blind date scenario.
There’s no word on when the now-famous possum will be released, so fingers crossed that The Bachelorette fan-favorite posts more content with his new buddy. With his fans pleading for him to become the next Bachelor, maybe Blake can get his possum pal to give him some advice because the marsupial clearly has an opinion.
