Jason Foster from the Bachelorette is a contestant who is drawing quite a bit of attention. What is there to know about the former NFL player who is vying for Clare Crawley’s heart?

Promises that The Bachelorette season 16 would be the most dramatic season yet have been fulfilled (at least, so far). Clare declined to give the first impression rose to fan-favorite Blake Moynes. Instead, she chose Bachelorette contestant Dale Moss. In the first episode, after meeting Dale, Clare boldly claimed that she felt like she had just met her husband. Because there's been so much talk about how Clare ends up with Dale, all the attention is on the men, rather than who will end up with Clare. So far, Jason has been one of the standout contestants. From the moment he exited the limo with a pregnancy belly (paying homage to Clare’s first Bachelor entrance), Bachelor Nation knew Jason wouldn’t disappoint.

The 31-year-old former NFL player was raised in Arlington, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2012. After graduating, Jason was signed as a free agent to the Indianapolis Colts, as per Bustle. There, he played guard and center for six months before signing with the Oakland Raiders. In late 2013, Jason made his way to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2014, he was released to play for the BC Lions (a Canadian Football League team). He stayed with that team until 2016. Afterward, he stopped playing football because he experienced one too many concussions. Jason’s father also played professional football for the New York Giants. Here's an Instagram post from Jason, who was so excited about appearing on The Bachelorette

Football isn’t all there is to know about this Bachelorette heartthrob. Now, he’s working in IT and has lost 120 pounds since his football days. He’s a huge fan of the outdoors and spends a lot of time exploring the monuments in Arlington and kayaking down the Potomac River. Jason’s ideal woman has a wonderful laugh, loves humor, and can handle his sarcastic jokes. Chris Harrison described Jason as having a “Seth Rogen laugh” and explained how all the Bachelorette guys loved him. Harrison said this while introducing the 2020 contestants. It seems Jason captured Clare’s heart too (at first) because he received the first one-on-one date.

On the date, Jason took the opportunity to open up to Clare about his fears, insecurities, failed relationships, and unpleasant family memories. As Jason revealed his truth, the interaction felt slightly forced, which made some viewers uncomfortable. While it was nice to see Jason open up, Clare treated the one-on-one more like a therapy session than a date. They even wrote letters to their future selves. Clare also took the opportunity to burn the dress she wore to her final rose ceremony with Juan-Pablo.  At least Jason still received a rose for sharing his true feelings.

While it’s not clear whether Jason will remain once Tayshia takes over as The Bachelorette, he has certainly captured Bachelor Nation's attention. In a normal season run, he’d be an easy contender for hometowns or fantasy suites but, as everyone knows, this season is far from normal.
