Although The Bachelor franchise has its own Canadian version, there are still many contestants from the Great White North who wind up on the original American series, and now Serena Pitt is opening up about her preferences. Like Kaitlyn Bristowe before her, Canadian Serena became a fan favorite while on the show. She may not have walked away engaged, but Serena made her mark on the franchise, and for the first time, dated an American man. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, she talks about which men she likes better: Canadians or their neighbors to the south.

Dating Matt, along with more than 30 other women, wasn’t without its awkwardness, but overall it was a positive experience. From their first one-on-one, Serena and Matt shared easy chemistry, and it continued to develop over time. On their hometown date, Serena got to share her love for her homeland with Matt, who sampled poutine and other Canadian-signature dishes, and even tried his hand at ice hockey. However, Serena felt doubts rise throughout the date, and after much thought decided to send herself home.

When it comes to American men versus Canadian men, Serena never gave it much consideration. “I've never really thought about it as there being a really big difference,” she told Screen Rant. “Matt is obviously the first American man I've ever dated. I can't say I have a preference.” Though Serena may have no problem dating an American man, her parents are another matter. “I think my parents would definitely love it if I ended up staying in Canada,” she revealed, “but it'll just take a little work convincing an American guy to cross the border.

Matt may be the first American she’s dated, but Serena has always kept an open mind. When she was younger and a devoted Bachelor Nation fangirl, Serena had a crush on Bachelor Ben Higgins. Serena also has taken a shine to a very particular American accent. “I don't know all of your American accents [but] I really like the Boston accent—I think it just sounds very cool, very casual,” she laughed. Boston accents may strike her fancy, but Serena isn’t closed off to any one type of American man. For her, it’s all about the connection.

During Matt’s season, Serena was in a quarantine bubble with the rest of the cast and crew at the Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania, but thankfully she’s gotten to see more of America than that one (admittedly amazing) resort. “I've been lucky to travel to a variety of different places all over America,” Serena commented. There’s no one place that Serena has taken a shine to because she has an appreciation for all the cities she’s visited. “I really love Chicago, I really love New York, I really love San Francisco. I love the West Coast,” she said. “Seattle reminds a lot of Vancouver, so that's been a cool city to visit."

Fans would love to see more of the fun and quirky Canadian, but Serena isn’t sure if she’ll be going on Bachelor in Paradise. Serena learned a lot about herself while on The Bachelor, and now has experience dating American men. There aren’t likely to be any Boston accents for her on the beach, but if she’s harbored a crush on Chasen Nick, Spencer Robertson, Noah Erb, or Dr. Joe Park, she might be in luck.
