The Bachelor alum Peter Weber is revealing why his relationship with Kelley Flanagan fell apart. Peter and Kelley actually met prior to Peter's season of The Bachelor, but after she went to compete for his heart, their relationship didn't take the normal route fans are used to seeing. Peter originally proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss, before breaking off their engagement for runner-up Madison Prewett. Peter and Madison reconciled on the After The Final Rose special, only to break up shortly after. Peter then re-connected with Kelley and pursued a relationship with her after his break from Madison. Peter and Kelley split once before reconciling, only to end things once again.

Kelley also spoke about why things with Peter ended. During their first go at their post-show relationship, Kelley told the Chicks in the Office podcast that she had to convince herself some of Peter's interests were her own. While going out and partying were interests of Peter's, she knew they weren't hers. She also asked him not to announce their first break up until 2021, but Peter posted about it on New Year's Eve. They reconciled on Valentine's Day, but Kelley found out something undisclosed about Peter that was a dealbreaker for her, and things ended terribly between the former Bachelor stars.

Peter recently opened up about what went wrong on his end. "It’s unnatural having so many people be so interested in your relationship [and to] have every move, like, scrutinized," Peter told Us Weekly about having a relationship in the limelight. He said that he and Kelley tried to keep their relationship quiet in the beginning because they didn't want all the exposure on their new romance. "You don’t want, like, the whole Bach Nation giving their opinion on it. … [But] you can’t escape it," Peter said.

Although Peter doesn't think anything would have changed between him and Kelley if they had gotten engaged, he believes "everything happened the way it was supposed to happen." He doesn't have any regrets from his controversial Bachelor journey and is grateful for what he learned about himself and his wants for future relationships. "I’m so, so, so incredibly thankful for Kelley [and] for all the girls," Peter said of his time as The Bachelor. Kelley previously told Us Weekly that she doesn't think anything would have gone differently if Peter had originally chosen her on his season.

Even though Kelley and Peter's relationship didn't work out, it's not that surprising for fans of The Bachelor. Most of the couples that come out of the franchise don't stand the test of time, but it's still fun to route for them on their journeys. Hopefully, both Peter and Kelley, who was recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease, are able to find happiness on their own.
