Peter Weber is settled down with The Bachelor cast-off Kelley Flanagan, and Bachelor Nation seems to think Peter is only with Kelley because of the infamous Barbara Weber tantrum. Could it really be the case?
Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor ended in a less than graceful fashion with a fiancé fake-out, where Peter proposed and gave his final rose to Hannah Ann, but then quickly changed his mind in the month before After the Final Rose premiered. In that time, he broke things off with Hannah to pursue his runner-up Madison Prewett. Although this dramatic ending is no stranger to Bachelor Nation, Peter’s came with an extra layer of drama in the form of his mother Barbara Weber. Momma Weber made it clear where her allegiances lied during the meet-the-parents portion of the final episode, pleading passionately with her son to bring Hannah Ann home to the family.
Fast-forward to the “After the Final Rose” show, and the tension in the room is thick. The camera pans to Momma Weber, a scowl directed at her son and new daughter-in-law-to-be, Madison. It’s here that Barb’s tantrum takes on a new form, as she refuses to give Peter and Madison her blessing, instead claiming Madison’s on-screen personality was fake. We get the feeling that Barb would take almost anyone else to wed her son. All the while, we see another of Peter’s exes, Kelley Flanagan, in the audience, looking refreshed from her time off the show and enjoying the roast of the man who sent her home weeks prior. Eagle-eyed viewers also noticed that during the ending credits, Barb embraced Kelley instead of her son. Less than a week after Peter and Madison declared their love, Barb got her wish, as the couple decided to split ways.
Now, thanks to Instagram, Bachelor Nation has witnessed the start of Kelley and Pilot Pete’s relationship. In addition to photos snapped of the two together, @bachelornation.scoop posted a video of the pilot discussing why he felt Kelley was the right choice for him. In the video, he says that due to the nature of the show, it wasn't the best “organic” situation for the pair’s relationship. He also quotes a saying in Spanish that his grandma used to say to him (and that he said to Hannah Brown in her season), which basically means “let the waters run, and what’s meant for you will always come back to you no matter what.” Check out the video below:
Peter also says that Kelley was always appearing in his life, possibly referencing the spontaneous way they met in a hotel lobby or her mysterious appearance on “After the Final Rose.” Either way, Bachelor fans are not having it, insinuating that Peter is only with Kelley because Momma Barb wanted it to be. From the looks of it, Barbara Weber is happy, as she frequently writes positive comments on the couple’s photos.
Pilot Pete stirred up a lot of controversy during his season of The Bachelor, but Barbara Weber takes the cake, as she seems to be the one calling the shots on her son’s love life. Many speculate that the momma’s boy couldn't bear having his mother upset with his life choices, and since he ruined any chances of being with Momma Weber’s first pick, Hannah Ann, he went right for the next Mom-approved choice, Kelley. Whether or not Peter’s mom heavily influenced him or not, it seems the pair is happy together and, most importantly, Momma Weber can sleep soundly at night knowing her son is in good hands.
