After Kelley Flanagan opened up about her split from The Bachelor's Peter Weber, he decided to offer his side of the story. Peter and Kelley began a relationship shortly after his season finished airing in March 2020. The former couple was seen out and about in her home city of Chicago a few weeks after Peter announced he and his season's runner-up, Madison Prewett, decided not to continue a relationship outside the show. However, viewers weren't surprised by the pairing, as Kelley and Peter always had a special bond during his season.

Peter and Kelley first met days before his season of The Bachelor went into production. The cast was well aware of this information, and it didn't seem to interfere with Peter's other relationships. However, once the season got to the final five, Peter sent Kelley home as he felt he had stronger connections with the other women. Peter left the show engaged to Hannah Ann but broke it off with her to reconcile with Madison. By the time The Bachelor's Peter and Madison decided to call it quits, he and Kelley were already in a committed relationship.

During an episode of Peter's new podcast with fellow Bachelorette alum Dustin Kendrick, titled Bachelors In The City, he spoke about his side of the story regarding his break-up with Kelley. "I’m just going to be so brutally honest with you guys for however long this goes on for and just speak from the heart—I thought it was very calculated," he said in the May 26 episode, noting he "thought after hearing how it went that it was very—trying to push for a headline." The 29-year-old felt Kelley's interview was "very disingenuous" and that it "kind of caught [him] off guard." Kelley appeared on The Chicks In The Office podcast, where The Bachelor alum spoke about the relationship and admitted things ended "really badly."

Their break-up was announced on New Year's Eve last year when Peter shared the news on social media. However, a couple of months later, a video resurfaced of Peter and Kelley at a club in Miami. After a brief reconciliation that included a Valentine's Day date, The Bachelor couple split for good in February. In her interview, Kelley noted the differences in their hobbies and an unknown issue resulted in their final break-up. As for where Peter stands with Kelley, he admitted that he cares for her, but the recent revelations didn't sit well with him. "What doesn’t make sense to me at all...is Kelley's words were given to me through her friend," the pilot revealed. "They were, ‘If you ever want to have any chance of communication...you’re going to have to do some grandiose gesture.'" Peter was offended by this and realized they weren't right for each other.

Peter and Kelley seemed like they finally found love after reconnecting when his season of The Bachelor ended. While the reports between the pair are somewhat conflicting, it seems as though Peter and Kelley simply weren't the right fit. The Bachelor's Kelley is starting a new chapter in New York City and has a budding career as an attorney. Peter, who is also living in NYC, recently started flying with United Airlines and is always traveling. The relationship just wasn't meant to be.
