Bachelor In Paradise season 7 is the gift that keeps on giving for Bachelor Nation fans, as the latest developments in the drama include Mari Pepin claiming the birthday cake idea as her own and insinuating that Demi Burnett may have taken it from her. This steamy season is still airing on ABC, so fans have yet to see how these relationships will unfold. Bachelor In Paradise returned after a two-year hiatus, meaning that cast members from many seasons are joining each other for the first time. Demi Burnett just recently joined the cast, coming between Kenny Braasch and Mari's previously solid relationship. Demi is a more seasoned Bachelor cast member, with her resumé including competing for Colton Underwood in 2019 and appearances in Hannah Brown and Peter Weber's respective seasons, as well as her large role on BIP season 6.

Fans may recognize Kenny from Clare/Tayshia's season, where he was eliminated in the seventh week, and Mari from Matt's season, where she made it until week four. After a disagreement between Kenny and Mari regarding their exclusivity, she confided in Demi. This led to Demi expressing interest in Kenny after seeing an opportunity, damaging the girls' relationship. To add salt to the wound, in celebration of Kenny's belated birthday, Demi surprised him with a cake one night. This set Mari off, who threw the pastry into a bonfire.

During the most recent episode of the Click Bait with Bachelor Nation podcast, Mari opened up about the cake incident. Click Bait is hosted by her fellow Paradise stars Natasha Parker and Joe Amabile, along with former Bachelorette Tayshia Adams. Mari revealed that she initially had the idea to celebrate Kenny's birthday on the island when she learned that his birthday had passed while they were quarantining before the show. While she isn't exactly certain whether Demi knew this or not, she believes production might have had some involvement. (Fans may remember The Bachelor's Champagne-Gate.)

Demi Burnett Bachelor in Paradise

While the drama is still fresh on their minds, the two of them might be old news to Kenny. In the most recent episode of Bachelor in Paradise, Kenny was shown going on a date with Tia Booth. Tia isn't a stranger to the BIP beach, where she appeared in season 5, ultimately being heartbroken by Colton, who would go on to become the Bachelor. On the date, Tia confided that she was afraid of Demi and hadn't known that the two of them already made a trip to the "boom-boom room just a few nights before. Where will this boy band manager's heart take him?

Emotions are definitely heightened while in the bubble fighting for love. Along with the intense heat and creepy crabs, anyone might be bound to throw a cake or two. This love triangle (turned square) would not be a pleasurable experience for anyone. Hopefully all is well next time fans tune in to Bachelor In Paradise.

Bachelor in Paradise airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC.
