New Bachelor in Paradise guest co-host Lance Bass wants to host an LGBTQIA version of The Bachelor. Lance joined the singles in Mexico this week, replacing David Spade as the guest host. Before he could even walk down the steps onto the beach, there was already a ton of drama Lance had to catch up on. Right before he arrived, Brendan Morais had gone on a date with Demi Burnett, who just arrived at the resort. However, their date did not end the way Demi had hoped.
During their date, Brendan, who dated Pieper, admitted to Demi that while he liked her, he wanted to keep his options open. Demi's ego was severely bruised, and she didn't know how to continue their date from there. Back at the resort, Victoria P. and James Bonsall were hitting it off until Victoria self-eliminated himself right before the rose ceremony. It was revealed that Victoria had a boyfriend back home and was only using James for a rose. Lance sure had a lot to catch up on when he arrived in Mexico.
During an interview with Variety, the former *NSYNC member revealed he would love to host a full season of The Bachelor with a same-sex lead. "I think maybe it’s the time for ‘The Bachelor’ to do a gay Bachelor. I think that would be so much fun," he said. Lance, who wants to be a permanent host, then added, "And I definitely know a host if you need it." Even though Lance has not spoken to anyone about the potential gig, he is open to doing it in the future. Now that the singer has some experience hosting a reality dating show, there is a chance ABC or another network will take him up on his offer.
He also said that there is a need for shows like the ones in Bachelor Nation that focus on non-heterosexual relationships. In 2016, Lance even hosted a Bachelor-like show for the LGBTQIA community called Finding Prince Charming. However, the show only lasted one season and was canceled after the eight episodes aired. Nonetheless, The Bachelor franchise has expanded into same-sex relationships on BIP. During season 6 of the dating series, Demi, who welcomed Colton to the LGBTQIA community, made history when she asked the producers if she could bring her then-girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty, from back home onto the show. Demi was dating Derek Peth during the beginning stages of the show but realized early on she still had feelings for Kristian. The pair got engaged at the end but called off the engagement a few months later.
So far, Lance is doing a great job as a guest co-host on this season of Bachelor in Paradise. He is very personable and doesn't shy away from giving the contestants the best advice he can offer. The producers should definitely keep Lance in mind for any Bachelor spin-offs in the future.
