Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch from Bachelor in Paradise recently announced the gender and name of their newborn baby. The couple met while on season 5 of the ABC reality series and quickly coupled up while on the beach. Towards the end of the season, it seemed as though Kevin wasn't going to propose to Astrid. The pair ultimately broke up and left the show separately. They announced at the reunion that they were dating again but had no plans to get engaged anytime soon.
Shortly after their stint on BIP, Astrid took a leap of faith for Kevin and moved her life to Toronto. Everything seemed to work out, as Kevin proposed to Astrid a year after they met on the show. While they planned to tie the knot in 2020, their plans were postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of getting married, the pair decided to get a head start on their family. They announced in May 2021 that they were expecting their first child together.
On Tuesday, Kevin shared a few precious photos on his Instagram of the family at the hospital while also revealing their newborn son's name. "My son [...] My [world emoji]," the new father began the post. "August William Wendt (his friends call him Auggy) 11/20/21 - 7.5lbs. Super hero mama and beautiful baby boy both doing great. Thanks for all of the kind messages and well wishes to our growing family [...] we haven't stopped smiling in 3 day[s]." In the first snap, Astrid and Kevin are holding their baby boy and little August's eyes are shut as he lays against his father's chest. Kevin also included a photo from the nursery and another of himself holding baby August while laying down on a reclinable chair.
After Kevin posted the series of snaps, the couple received several comments from their Bachelor Nation family, congratulating them on the birth of their baby boy. Fellow Canadian Vanessa Grimaldi wrote, "He is beautiful," with several red-heart emojis at the end. Adam Gottschalk from Rachel Lindsay's season of The Bachelorette, who is also expecting a baby boy with wife Raven Gates, said, "So happy for you guys!" adding that he and Raven will be expecting in two months. On November 21, Astrid announced she and Kevin welcomed their first child the day before. She shared a photo of her little bundle of joy with his hand wrapped around her finger.
The birth of their son was notably special to Astrid and Kevin, as they underwent IVF earlier this year to conceive baby August. The former reality star opened up her pregnancy journey, her fertility struggle, and her experience with IVF. Kevin and Astrid are overjoyed to finally share their son with their fans now that he is here. The couple was unsure at first about exposing their son to the internet, but they have received nothing but positive energy from Bachelor in Paradise fans. Now that they have their son, Kevin and Astrid are ready for the wedding.
