On Bachelor in Paradise, "Grocery Store" Joe Amabile has always been a popular cast member, and many fans still wonder why he and former girlfriend Kendall Long broke up. Although his last BIP stint ended in a relationship, this season, some fans believe Joe is getting a Bachelor edit. As Joe embarks on his second BIP journey, it’s worth exploring how he ended up on another season of the popular Bachelor Nation spin-off.

Chicago native Joe and Los Angeles native Kendall met on BIP season 5. From day one, it was clear they had a strong connection. Though they broke up before the final episode, the couple reunited outside of the show and decided to give their relationship another shot. They dated for two years and even moved in together in Los Angeles in 2019. But Joe and Kendall announced their breakup in January 2020. Though it seemed like they were a solid couple, according to Joe, the issue of where to live was a major sticking point.

Kendall had expressed to me that she would never want to live in Chicago,” Joe revealed on the Click Bait podcast in December. “She just wouldn't—she loves LA, she doesn't want to leave LA, that's her thing." Joe didn’t think it was fair that he should leave Chicago permanently when Kendall wasn’t willing to show the same flexibility, but he admitted she had been upfront about her feelings. "She did express at the beginning of our relationship she would never want to do it,” he said. “In my head, I thought maybe that would change as time moved on, but she just would never want to live in Chicago."

Although Kendall has family and extensive roots in LA, the city just wasn’t for Joe. "The way I looked at it was, 'What am I doing in LA?'” he commented. “At the time, there wasn't much for me to do there. I didn't want to be the guy that was on a reality show just living off of, 'Oh I was on The Bachelor a year ago, look at me, yay!' I needed something else." Joe and Kendall have said there are no hard feelings between each other. However, that will be put to the test this season because both Joe and Kendall are a part of the official Bachelor in Paradise season 7 cast.

With Joe and Kendall hitting the beach on Bachelor in Paradise this summer, this season is set to be one of the most dramatic ever. Though Joe got a rocky start this season, he’s very interested in Serena Pitt, who seems to be reciprocating his feelings. However, it’s only a matter of time before Kendall comes sauntering down the stairs to stir things up. Many viewers are eager to see what kind of love triangle will arise and are also hoping that Joe has more success this time than on his previous season.
